Suburban Neighborhood in Fairfax Station, Virginia
Fairfax County 20124, 22030
Education and proximity are two qualities that separate Lewis Park from other neighborhoods in Northern Virginia. “The biggest draw in this neighborhood is Willow Springs Elementary,” says Samson Properties Realtor Steve Angeline. “Fairfax County schools have always scored high, but I’ve sold homes solely based on the reputation of Willow Springs.” Accessibility to the top-rated schools is not the only draw as Lewis Park is close to everything. “We’re 20 miles from D.C. for those who commute in for work, but we’re also five minutes from Chantilly, five from Fairfax Corner. We’re so close to the major highways, everything you need is minutes away.”
Many of the homes in Lewis Park are single-family detached builds. A tri-level four-bedroom home starts at just under $800,000, while renovated, large brick craftsman homes are in the $1.2 million ballpark. For a new build, buyers are looking to spend nearly $1.85 million for a six-bedroom home with plenty of space. The large front lawns feature mature evergreen trees, and the flat sidewalks make it easy to take the dog on a morning walk. On-street parking won’t be an issue as many houses have multi-car garages and wide driveways. An unplanned neighborhood, Lewis Park contains winding roads and cul-de-sacs for extra privacy.
Students enter the Fairfax County Public School system, beginning at Willow Springs Elementary. “One of the biggest draws is the fact that kids can walk to school,” says Angeline. “As a parent who had kids go there, I can’t tell you how nice it is to have them walk to school.” Next is Frost Middle School, which offers accommodations to military-connected families positioned near the Fort Belvoir Army Base. Students graduate to Fairfax High, where they can join one of five different choirs. All three of the schools hold an A rating on Niche.
The locals in Lewis Park love to get outside, and they have plenty of recreational options. Patriot Park is a great spot to stretch the legs on a walking trail, and is home to many local youth soccer games. Patriot Park is also known for its baseball complex which holds four full fields as well as batting cages and pitching areas. Jack Carney Park has a great playground for kids to go with several basketball and tennis courts. Grab the clubs and hack at a few balls at Four Seasons Golf Center or bring the dog along for some paved and unpaved trail exploring at Brentwood Park.
On the north side of the neighborhood lies Saravana Palace, a vegetarian restaurant serving Indian-inspired favorites. Try the kadhi pakora, a yogurt-based gravy covering friend onion pakoras. For authentic Mediterranean head to Global Bistro for chicken shawarma and lamb chops. Even more options are available just a mile to the north at Fairfax Corner. The large mall is home to Coastal Flats, the ideal spot to grab a mojito and blue crab fritters while pretending to be at the beach. The margaritas and street tacos are staples at Uncle Julio’s, but the bacon-wrapped honey habanero shrimp steals the show. Crafthouse will have hopheads delighted with over 50 beers on draft and $6 happy hour appetizers.
There are plenty of grocery options including a Giant Food stop on the western edge of the neighborhood. For even more variety and wholesale options, Costco and Wegmans are located just north of Lee Hwy. Not just a haven for foodies, Fairfax Corner has plenty of boutique shops, beauty salons and medical offices. New homebuyers will be happy to know Fairfax Corner recently welcomed in Ikea, perfect for decorating the house quickly. The fun does not stop there, as locals love visiting the mini-golf course right outside of the Cinemark. Just be sure to stop in time to grab your popcorn before the movie starts.
