A rural area with historic ties

Drawing its namesake from a noted educator and political figure instrumental in nearby Fayetteville's development, Jack Britt is known for its pastoral landscape of woods, farmland and homes on large swathes of land. The neighborhood is close to downtown Fayetteville in North Carolina, and offers well-rated schools alongside plenty of parks and open spaces for getting outdoors. The Jack Britt area is also located close to Fort Bragg and is a popular residential area for those working at the military installation.

Sought-after homes close to Fort Bragg

Home prices in the neighborhood range from around $400,000 to as high as the mid-$900,000s, with a variety of ranch-style, single-family home and town house options. “Homes are still selling much higher, so they go more over asking price than anywhere else in the city,” says Alexandra Scott, a Realtor with RE/MAX Commercial. “People buy a lot more houses here than anywhere else in the market.” Jack Britt is situated just 15 miles south of Fort Bragg, meaning some of its population consists of military families. That convenience means military members can live less than half an hour away from the post just down Route 401, which takes motorists through the heart of the city of Fayetteville.

Fayetteville-area schools with extracurricular options

Students start out at Stoney Point Elementary School, which draws a grade of B-plus on Niche and is ranked the second-best such school in the Fayetteville area. Enrollees can participate in the North Carolina Science Olympiad or perform nationwide in the STPES Treble Troupe Chorus, and Stoney Point is also situated right next to the Stoney Point Recreation Center. There, students and locals can stroll the walking tracks, check out the library and enjoy dance programs or family game nights. After fifth grade at Stoney Point, the Cumberland County School District moves on to John R. Griffin Middle School, which also receives a B-plus from Niche, and then to the A-minus-rated Jack Britt High School. Hailed for its STEM programs, Jack Britt ranks among the most diverse high schools in the state. "The schools here are some of the most sought-after in the state," Scott says.

Running on the eastern side of the neighborhood is Little Rockfish Creek, where you can find fishing, paddle sports, and an eight-mile walking trail. The E. Melvin Honeycutt Splash Pad has a playground along with a water-centric play area, and up Bingham Drive north of Honeycutt Park is the Bailey Lake Dog Park.
