Popular golf community in Flagstaff
Pine Canyon is a resort-style gated community in Flagstaff, Arizona, known for its private amenities, including a golf course and clubhouse. Jason Shafor, a Flagstaff local and a Realtor with Exp Realty describes Pine Canyon as “By far the most premier, luxury neighborhood we have and one of the finest golf courses.” Most residents are club members who vacation here for the summer; however, a membership isn't required to purchase a home here. “They have an amazing clubhouse with great dining, an awesome pool, a couple of fishing ponds, a nice little park, and back in the forest, there’s plenty of walking trails in the community,” Shafor says.
Single-family homes here start at around $2 million, many featuring third-acre lots or larger, which are rare in Flagstaff. “If you can find a third of an acre in town, everyone is thrilled with that size,” says Danielle Sedillo, a Flagstaff local and a Realtor with Village Land Shoppe. The neighborhood is within 4 miles of shopping and dining at Aspen Place at Sawmill and about 5 miles south of Downtown Flagstaff. “It’s really catered to the high-end luxury client. When you get in there, people will be wowed by the homes,” Shafor says. For members, initiation fees range from $55,000 to $300,000 and monthly club dues range from $600 to $1,350.

Single-family homes surrounded by pine trees
All homes in Pine Canyon were built over the last 20 years. “They’ve got big, luxury properties, a few lots and some townhouses in the community, too,” Sedillo says. Along winding, tree-shaded streets without sidewalks, single-family homes are surrounded by thickets of pine trees with space to spare between neighbors. “A third-acre lot or larger is considered a big lot in Flagstaff,” Sedillo says. New traditional homes with clean lines and rugged stone accents typically range from $2 million to $2.5 million, many are single-story with four bedrooms, short driveways and lots up to a half-acre. Custom-built homes range from $3 million to $4 million, depending on lot size and added features like multi-car garages or jacuzzis. Many custom homes are two-story on half-acre lots and feature wood exteriors, longer driveways and up to five bedrooms. A two- or three-bedroom townhouse in southern Pine Canyon ranges from $1 million to $1.7 million, depending on added features like a covered patio, heated pool or balcony. Open lots typically range from $400,000 for a third- to half-acre and up to $1 million for a 3/4-acre.
“Pine Canyon sets itself apart because you don’t have to have a social or golf membership. You can just pay the homeowners association fees and still be able to live in the neighborhood,” Shafor says. Monthly HOA dues range from $200 to $700 and go toward maintaining residential streets and club facilities.
