Flagstaff-area suburb with family-friendly activities with proximity to downtown
Set 2 miles south of downtown Flagstaff, Pine Knoll-Brannen Homes (named for the construction and design company) is an established residential suburb with nearby access to Interstates 40 and 17. “The neighborhood is in a great location,” says Karen Piet, a Realtor with RE/MAX Fine Properties who's sold homes in the area. “Shops aren’t too far outside of the neighborhood, but there are a few restaurants here, the community is open and friendly, and you’re only about an hour and a half from the Grand Canyon.” Residents here are surrounded by groves of ponderosa pine trees and views of the often-snow-capped San Francisco Peaks. The Springfield Baptist Church is right nearby, and greenspaces and family-friendly attractions are within walking distance; Northern Arizona University sits a mile southwest.
Ranch-style homes from the ‘50s and newer townhouses
The neighborhood was built in two phases, from west to east. To the west, ranch-style homes from the 1950s line narrow, tree-lined streets, and to the east, split-level townhouses from the early- to mid-2000s are found along cul-de-sacs. All homes here tend to have wood siding, shaded front porches with wood or stone accents, and either gravel or paved driveways. Front yards are large enough for a row of hedges and a few mature pine trees, and backyard patios are enclosed with metal or wooden shadowbox fences. About half of the neighborhood’s streets are lined with sidewalks. “You’ll definitely see locals out walking their dogs or riding their bikes here,” says Piet, “and sometimes they’ll invite neighbors over for dinner parties.” Home sizes range from 1,200 to 3,000 square feet, on lots of 2,600 to 4,600 square feet, and prices range from $423,000 to $750,000.
Many of the Pine Knoll-Brannen Homes townhouses were built from the early to mid-2000s.
