The neighborhood sits near the intersection of Interstate 95 and Highway 280, where there are several shops and eateries. Newer Cape Cods and Colonials
Homes in Windsor Forest tend to be newer dwellings built on larger lots than other Florence neighborhoods. “They have very nice houses and are pretty economically priced,” McMillan says. Housing styles are a mixed bag, with Colonials and Cape Cods among the many types of construction in the area. Prices usually range from around $400,000 for a house of 2,900 square feet or less on a half-acre corner lot, to $800,000 for a home exceeding 3,500 square feet, with several bedrooms and amenities like a pool and deck. Narrow roadways leave little room for street parking; however, driveways and garages are standard. Towering oaks are among the trees scattered throughout the area.

Several restaurants and retail options in West Florence
The neighborhood sits around a mile from the commercial areas of West Florence. This part of town has several chains, like Chick-Fil-A and Texas Roadhouse, and big-name retailers such as Target and Sam’s Club. West Florence also has several local eateries and shops, including Starfire Grill, an American-Mediterranean restaurant with a bar and patio. “Starfire Grill is one of my favorite places," McMillan says. "I love the buffalo chicken wrap." Red Bone Alley uses classic architecture to recreate an old Charleston neighborhood and is popular for its shrimp and grits. Eggs Up Grill offers breakfast, burgers and sandwiches in a colorful setting, with patrons praising the pancakes. Palmetto Peddlers Antique Mall has various vendors and items, ranging from small gifts to large furniture.
The Red Bone Alley offers some of the best seafood near Windsor Forest.
Windsor Forest locals can head to Walmart to pick up some household items.

Preparing for the future at Advantage Academy
Students can begin their education at Carver Elementary School, which Niche grades a B-plus. Carver is an AdvancED STEM-certified school, a designation that recognizes schools with strong STEM programs. John Moore Middle School also gets a B-plus and is rated the best public middle school in Florence County by Niche. West Florence High School earns an A-minus from Niche and also focuses on STEM. School district Florence 1 Schools offers a career center called Advantage Academy, which provides hands-on experience for students unsure whether to attend college or enter the work force. “It gives them a taste of what being a nurse is actually like,” says Stephanie Grosick, the Vice President of Business Development for Florence County Economic Development Partnership.
Dozens of tennis courts at Florence Tennis Center
Revell Park is on the neighborhood’s northern edge. Children and parents utilize the playground equipment and nearby covered picnic tables. The park also includes vast open space and fenced-in tennis courts. Tennis players also gather at the Dr. Eddie Floyd Florence Tennis Center, a large facility with over a dozen courts that hosts several large tournaments. The Florence Center is a multi-purpose arena where various indoor events are held, including concerts, monster-truck shows and Disney on Ice. Next to the center is Florence Veterans Park, a green space with seating among monuments and plaques saluting all branches of the Armed Forces and commemorating the wars of the 20th century.
Windsor Forest locals can enjoy tennis and pickleball at the various parks in the area.
