About 2 miles from downtown Fort Collins, City Park is one of the city's more desirable neighborhoods, with historic architecture and the largest park in Fort Collins. “It has one of the more competitive housing markets in the city, causing elevated prices,” says Ian Johnston, a local Realtor with C3 Real Estate Solutions. “It’s also in a prime location for both recreation and shopping. Lots of people walk to Old Town when the weather is right.” The neighborhood is a few blocks from Old Town’s restaurant and shopping scene, with bikeable streets and accessible public transit options.

Recreation and events at City Park
The community’s namesake park spans 106 acres and hosts community events and plentiful outdoor recreation. City Park has facilities for baseball, tennis, pickleball and soccer, along with a nine-hole public golf course. In the summer months, there's the popular outdoor pool, complete with tall water slides and a splash pad. Paddle boards are also available for rent for drifting on Sheldon Lake, which is bordered by a paved walking trail and is seasonally stocked with sunfish, bass, trout and catfish. On the park’s north end, along West Oak Street is the Fort Collins Pottery Studio, with ceramic equipment where patrons of all ages can take pottery lessons. On Tuesdays from May to September the Fort Collins Food Truck Rally comes to City Park, with free live music and numerous vendors.

Many of the area’s homes were built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with Victorian-era houses and craftsman-style bungalows sitting next to Tudors and brick cottages. Stodgy Brewing Company is a of couple doors down and has a rustic, indoor-outdoor feel with around 15 craft beers on tap and different food vendor pop-ups each night. The brewery also hosts board game nights every Thursday. For groceries, shoppers can stop by the nearby King Soopers or head east to College Avenue for Target and Lucky’s Market.

Dual enrollment at Poudre High School
Putnam Elementary School is a half mile north of City Park and earns a C-plus overall grade from Niche. Lincoln Middle School has a B-minus grade and has extracurricular activities ranging from Dungeons & Dragons club to Odyssey of the Mind, an after-school program where students work on their creative problem-solving skills at a competitive level. The B-plus-rated Poudre High School has six different educational pathways for students to choose from, including agriculture and the environment, entrepreneurship and health sciences and human services. The high school also partners with AIMS Community College and Front Range Community College for dual enrollment courses.
Poudre High School offers several sport programs to City Park student athletes.
