A laid-back Fort Collins suburb with walkable lanes
Quiet, bikeable streets are shaded by mature oaks and evergreens in Foxstone, an established East Fort Collins community, close to major shopping centers and the city’s extensive trail system. Around 5 miles south of Old Town, the neighborhood is served by highly rated public schools and is within a mile walk of sports facilities and the Front Range Village Shopping Center.
1990s architecture and quiet streets in Foxstone
Most of the neighborhood’s houses were built throughout the 1980s and 1990s, from ranch-style homes and split levels to modern traditional builds. Houses sit close together on lots ranging from 5,000 to 8,000 square feet, and most have fenced-in backyards. Split-level and ranch-style homes with around 2,000 square feet or less range in price from $475,000 to $630,000, while larger builds go for $650,000 to $810,000. “The houses in Foxstone are a bit pricier than the Fort Collins average,” says Rob Crouch, a local Realtor with Roots Real Estate. “It’s a coveted area, so houses don’t hit the market very often, but locals like the quiet streets and being close to the amenities of Harmony Road.”
Work-based learning at Fort Collins High School
Most of the homes in Foxstone are within a half-mile walk of Linton Elementary School, which earns a B-minus overall grade from Niche. Boltz Middle School receives a B-plus and offers a variety of extracurriculars, from gardening club and LEGO robotics to wrestling and boxing club. The A-minus-rated Fort Collins High School is the fourth-best public high school in Larimer County, according to Niche. It offers three career and technical education pathways, with courses including game design, business communication, interior design and principles of construction. Fort Collins High also partners with local companies for its work-based learning program, where students can get in-person, hands-on experience in a career field of interest.
Nearby sports facilities, trails and natural areas
English Ranch Park lies just east of the neighborhood and has a baseball diamond, a soccer field, a picnic shelter and a playground. The public Collindale Golf Course is a short drive west, with 18 verdant fairways and views of the distant Rocky Mountains. The course also hosts local golf leagues and regional tournaments. Nearby, the 280-acre Arapaho Bend Natural Area is home to around 4 miles of trails that wind around the area’s ponds and alongside the Poudre River. The natural area is a popular fishing spot and serves as the habitat for over 80 bird species. The Fort Collins Power Trail can be accessed around a half mile from Foxstone and spans north to connect with the Spring Creek Trail and numerous other public green spaces.
Local businesses in Front Range Village
The Front Range Village Shopping Center is home to dozens of chains and local businesses, from furniture shops to big-box stores. Dazbog Coffee is a local chain with tea, coffee and baked goods. Around the corner, Nori Maki Bar serves sushi, sake and hand-crafted cocktails. Harmony Technology Park is also nearby and has a small selection of businesses, including DC Oaks Brewhouse and Eatery, which offers a rotating selection of local craft beers alongside wine, cocktails and pub fare. Shoppers can pick up their groceries and essentials at the nearby Target, Safeway or Sprouts Farmers Market.
Transfort bus routes and proximity to I-25
Both Horsetooth and Harmony roads are lined with bus stops, and over 20 routes across Fort Collins are operated by Transfort. The neighborhood is roughly 5 miles south of Old Town, the city’s historic business district. Additionally, Interstate 25 is a short drive east and can take drivers north to Cheyenne, Wyoming, or south to Denver.
GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
