Daily life with a vacation feel
Walk out the front door and head to the beach. Walk out the back door and hop in a boat. These are the perks of living in Harbour Inlet, a casual coastal community in Fort Lauderdale surrounded by water on three sides. It’s an ideal location for beachgoers, boaters and anyone seeking the South Florida lifestyle. “Harbour Inlet has a unique island feel," says Julie Jones, a Realtor with Douglas Elliman and a former neighborhood resident. “You almost feel like you're on vacation when you live there because everyone is going to the beach, cycling and walking their dog. It has a nice ambiance to it."
Harbor Inlet residents enjoy using the Water Taxi to get around during the weekend.

Nearby beaches offer contrasting settings
Beach access is the main attraction. "This is a special area," Jones says. "You're a short distance from the nicest beach in Fort Lauderdale, Las Olas Beach; it's absolutely beautiful." Meanwhile, residents can walk to Lago Mar Beach on the oceanfront. "There's very little public parking there, so it's like a locals-only spot," Jones says. "It’s a quiet, stunning, wide section of beach where you can watch all the major traffic, all the cruise ships and cargo ships from Port Everglades go by." There are great views on the west side of the neighborhood as well, where you may spot a pod of dolphins or a herd of manatees navigating the river. Several waterfront homes feature private boat docks, allowing those residents easy access to the surrounding waterways and the nautical adventures they provide to anglers and watercraft enthusiasts. Additional boat storage is available at Pier Sixty-Six Marina adjacent to the neighborhood.
Residents of Harbour Inlet have access to beautiful beaches all year round.
Locals of Harbor Inlet enjoy unlimited beach time with public beach access points.

Big homes on the water and charming homes inland
Housing is highlighted by the waterfront homes that cradle the neighborhood. Prices range from $5 million for a large established Spanish-style home to more than $13 million for a newly built modern-style estate home. New construction also can be found inland, but most of the non-waterfront housing features a collection of ranch-style and other midcentury designs, many of which have been renovated. Prices typically range from just under $2 million to $3 million. “They’ve knocked down some properties to build new houses, but you’ll find a lot of charm in the older properties that have been rehabbed to keep their original look,” says Peter Barkin, a Realtor with Compass who has sold real estate in South Florida for more than 25 years. Custom landscaping and quirky sights such as manatee mailboxes add to the neighborhood’s curb appeal, and sidewalks provide convenient walkability. Condominiums are concentrated on the north side of the neighborhood. One- and two-bedroom units in established complexes range from the high $100,000s to the low $300,000s. New luxury condos at the renovated marina can list for as much as $5.6 million. Given the neighborhood's location, there is a high risk of flooding and wind damage, especially during hurricane season. Homeowners should be aware that insurance rates will reflect that.
Remodeled and renovated homes are a popular sight in Harbour Inlet.

17th Street provides convenient access to shopping and dining
Residents can easily access the mainland from Seabreeze Boulevard, which becomes the 17th Street commercial corridor across the river. "You are literally minutes from the new convention center and the new Pier Sixty-Six development," Jones says. "Off that same street, there's a very nice Whole Foods, a Publix, multiple restaurants and bars, lots of boutiques, great Pilates studios — everything is there." The convention center hosts an array of year-round events, including the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show each fall. Publix is located at The Harbour Shops, a sprawling retail center that also includes T.J. Maxx, a bank and a hardware store. Nearby dining options include Gilbert’s 17th Street Grill, a popular family-owned restaurant, and 15th Street Fisheries, which offers dockside dining. Residents can take Seabreeze Boulevard up the coast and find more waterfront destinations, including Sea Level Restaurant and Ocean Bar.
Gilbert's 17th St Grill burgers are voted to be the best by local newspapers and are delicious.
Harbour Inlet residents can get the majority of their chores accomplished at Harbor Shops.
