The Intracoastal Waterway and the Rio Channel surround Sunrise Key.
Private residential island next to downtown Fort Lauderdale
Those who don’t know Sunrise Key is there might miss it. Tucked away on Fort Lauderdale’s Intracoastal Waterway, it’s an all-residential private island whose inhabitants enjoy year-long resort-style living. Sunrise Key Boulevard is the one road leading in and out of this community of multi-million-dollar estates. Mariners appreciate that every home in this community is waterfront. It’s surrounded by wide canals with a deep path from the ocean to private docks, giving it a unique advantage. “In my opinion, what makes it special is you can get big boats in there easily,” says Joseph Beltrand, Realtor with Coldwell Banker. Residents venture off the island to shop, work and go to school. Situated between Sunrise Boulevard and Las Olas Boulevard, they are a short trip away from energetic downtown Fort Lauderdale.
Sunrise Key homes have state-of-the-art amenities
The 75-plus homes on the island vary in style and amenities, though they have one thing in common. “Everybody has a really good view,” Beltrand says. Many are Mediterranean-style or new construction with a contemporary style. Sunrise Key holds some of Broward County’s most expensive real estate, valued from $2.5 million to $25 million. There are marble-floored mansions with eight bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, oak-paneled elevators, temperature-controlled wine cellars, spa-inspired bathrooms, Jacuzzis and luxurious pools, wide driveways leading up to gated mansions and enormous master suites with wrap-around balconies. While there are no sidewalks, residents walk down wide, quiet streets flanked by manicured landscaping and tall trees.
Many residents in Sunrise Key have pools to relax and enjoy the Florida weather.
