Shoaff Park has lovely roads and scenic trails throughout the neighborhood in Fort Wayne.
Homes right next to the park
A home in Shoaff Park comes with a key to one of the largest public recreational spaces across Fort Wayne. This neighborhood is named for its main attraction — Shoaff Park is a 185-acre expanse that offers everything from an 18-hole golf circuit to Saint Joseph River access. “An asset like Shoaff Park, with a lot of amenities, like a par 3 golf course, a frisbee golf course, soccer fields, baseball fields and just great walking paths and connectivity to our Rivergreenway trail system, all of those things are really great assets to anyone in that area of town,” says local Realtor Sam Hartman of Coldwell Banker Real Estate Group. Plus, the houses here are relatively accessibly priced and come with proximity to a smattering of retail and dining amenities.
An established area still loaded with value
The houses in Shoaff Park were built in the mid-to-late 20th century, from the 1950s to the 1970s. These homes are mostly ranchers and colonial-style options. The neighborhood is made up predominantly of single-family homes, but a small number of multifamily, townhomes and apartments are mixed in. Floor plans in Shoaff Park span about 1,700 square feet on average. Houses in this area come with fairly sizable lots, that start at about one-fifth of an acre and reach three-tenths of an acre. “That area skews to be on the more mature side of homes, being 50-plus years old,” says Hartman, a lifelong Fort Wayne resident. “Which ultimately results in pretty good affordability. I think the price points in that area are pretty reasonable.” Homes in this neighborhood typically sell for prices between $200,000 and $300,000.

Outdoor recreation a short jaunt away
Shoaff Park’s streets are lined with sidewalks, meaning those who live in the neighborhood are always just a stroll away from Shoaff Park itself. The park features the most amenities of any park in the city. Families can take their kids to the playground or the splash pad, golfers can hit the links, and anglers can launch a boat into the Saint Joseph River bass and catfish fishing. “That’s a very trafficked park,” Hartman says. “There’s a 2-mile loop around it. And it connects to the Rivergreenway trail, which takes you to the downtown area. It’s very well-established and utilized.” Hartman says Shoaff Park is popular for youth sports leagues as well, which utilize the baseball and softball diamonds and soccer fields here.
