Situated about 12 miles north of Fort Worth, Chisholm Ridge is a residential community in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex known for its proximity to parks. Interstate 35 and the Freeway Toll Express lead straight into the city for those commuting for work. Highly rated schools and access to retail and restaurants add to the draw of the community. "It's usually quiet here even though it's a busy area," says Realtor Comelia Hinkley of eXp Realty LLC. According to Hinkley, who lives in the neighborhood, people are also welcoming. "I've never met anyone who isn't friendly."

Newer homes on streets with Texas-themed names

Ranch-style and new traditional homes with gabled roofs sit on wide streets throughout the neighborhood. Houses are snuggly situated next to each other, with fenced yards and driveways leading to garages. Medium-sized homes with three and four bedrooms usually cost between $280,000 and $350,000, while newer homes with four and five bedrooms typically range from $350,000 to $576,000. Neighborhood street names reflect a Texas theme, including "Horse Whisper Lane," "Prairie Fire Drive," and "Cactus Flower Drive". When the holiday season rolls around, houses are decorated for Halloween and Christmas. "We have decoration contests," Hinkley says. "We also have neighborhood garage sales."

Beers and burgers on gameday at Flips Patio Grill

Flips Patio Grill is about 4 miles away on Fossil Bluff Drive, offering hamburgers, sandwiches and craft beers. Along Tarrant Parkway, Luna Grill Alliance serves Mediterranean food, with high marks for its gyros and kebabs. Kroger is about 3 miles on Basswood Boulevard, and ALDI is 5 miles away on Saginaw Boulevard.

Dual credit opportunities at Saginaw High

Chisholm Ridge students are part of the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw Independent School District. They can start school at Chisholm Ridge Elementary, which receives a B grade from Niche. Highland Middle School gets a B-plus from Niche and offers fine arts courses like art, band, choir and theater. Saginaw High School earns an A from Niche and offers students dual credit and advanced placement courses to earn college credits in high school.

Wild and plant life throughout Chisholm Ridge Park

Parks and outdoor recreation are central to the neighborhood. Lasater Park is a modest space with a swimming pool and a lazy river that children enjoy. Chisholm Ridge Park is a 31-acre space with a playground, trails and a pet station. Visitors enjoy the various wildlife and plant life throughout the park. Chisholm Ridge is a couple of miles from Northwest Community Park, a vast space of over 248 acres and is the fifth largest park in Fort Worth. Chisholm Ridge sits next to major roadways in Highway 287 and Highway 81, along with Interstate 35, to get around the Metroplex. Travelers are 34 miles from Dallas Love Field and 23 miles from DFW International Airport. Medical City Alliance is the nearest medical facility, about 3 miles away.
