Suburban Neighborhood in Fort Worth, Texas
Tarrant County 76107
With botanic gardens, event venues and multiple museums covering everything from art to science all nearby, the Cultural District of Fort Worth certainly lives up to its name. This lively neighborhood is located just west of downtown and is home to many of the city’s flagship events and historic properties. Whether you want to immerse yourself in nature or learn something new, this neighborhood will keep you busy year-round.
When you’re not out exploring the happenings of the Cultural District, you can enjoy the quiet neighborhood streets that are home to Spanish-style, Craftsman and even Tudor homes. Many of the houses in the area were built in the 1920s, '30s and '40s, but there is still new development. New builds include contemporary styles with unique shapes and sharp edges. Because of the established nature of the neighborhood, mature trees line the streets and cover the sidewalks with shade. The older homes in the neighborhood frequently have just two bedrooms. You can find a modest cottage for $330,000 to $425,000. Three-bedroom single-family homes and town houses start around $450,000 and can be listed for as much as $675,000.
Students in the neighborhood part of the Fort Worth Independent School District will likely attend WC Stripling Middle School, rated a B- on Niche. The school serves 640 students in grades 6 through 8 and offers extracurricular activities like the National Junior Honor Society and the University Interscholastic League Academic competitions. Arlington Heights High School receives a B overall from Niche. The school offers specialized programs in agriculture and fine arts to prepare students for their next steps after high school. It also has an AP Capstone Academy focusing on research, teamwork and communication skills.
Residents have easy access to Trinity Park, the first city park in Fort Worth. The city bought the land for the park in 1892, and it has expanded several times since then. Bordering the Trinity River, the park includes several walking trails, a basketball court and the Dream Park playground, designed for children of all abilities. Right next to the park is the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, named one of the best botanic gardens in the country according to Garden Design. The 120-acre campus is the oldest botanic garden in the state and has more than 2,500 unique species of plants. Visitors enjoy viewing the Japanese gardens with koi-filled ponds and stone bridges.
Cultural District residents are just a short walk away from some of the most exciting events in Fort Worth. Dickies Arena is a 14,000-seat venue that opened in 2019 and hosts concerts, sporting events and the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. This annual event brings live music, carnival rides, food and bull-riding to the neighborhood. The nearby Will Rogers Memorial Center is a vast entertainment and event district with a coliseum, auditorium and several exhibit halls that host equestrian events and livestock shows.
Several nearby museums offer interesting exhibits covering a range of topics. You can learn about the history of Fort Worth and Western culture at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History or the National Cowgirl Museum. Three art museums offer a look at artwork from the western United States, Asia and Europe, and post-World War II art.
Locals enjoy dining out at Taco Heads, a former taco truck with a permanent location in the neighborhood. Whether you come for breakfast or dinner, you’ll surely find something you enjoy. The expansive menu features tacos with various fillings, such as brisket, shrimp and roasted corn. When you need to shop for groceries, there's a Tom Thumb nearby on West 7th Street. And any time you need to commute throughout Fort Worth or the Metroplex, you can start your trip on Interstate 30 just south of the neighborhood.
