Park space nestled between shopping centers
Historically where the Texas Longhorn cattle trade thrived, Fort Worth today looks a bit different. Parts of the city and the surrounding communities might still embody this Western ideal, but the area has grown into more of a cosmopolitan center. Park Glen is proof of this, tucked between modern comforts and big-name shops like Costco, Target and Walmart, while fields of green space including Arcadia Trail Park South encompass the heart of this suburban neighborhood. The district – which is divided into single-family subdivisions – is also conveniently situated just 12 miles north of Fort Worth, and Dallas is a straight shot about 30 miles to the east. “It’s a very family-friendly neighborhood where people know their neighbors,” says Deri Marusa, a native Texan and Realtor with Ebby Halliday. “People like it because you have easy access to just about everything.”

Traditional homes made of stone
It’s not uncommon to see kids riding their bikes along the sidewalks that line Park Glen’s quiet residential streets, where mature oak and pecan trees shade the way. Many homes in the area were built in the 1990s and are equipped with driveways that lead to multicar garages and fenced-in backyards. Traditional and Colonial Revival architecture with brick and stone exteriors reign supreme, as 1,500- to 3,500-square-foot dwellings can cost between $330,000 and $530,000 for a property with an outdoor pool.

Park Glen is served by the highly-rated Keller Independent School District. “The schools are a big draw for families,” says Marusa. “Even if you’re living in Fort Worth, you have access to Keller schools.” Students can begin at Park Glen Elementary School, which Niche ranks in the top 9% of public elementary schools in Texas, before advancing to Parkwood Hill Intermediate School – both schools receiving an A grade from Niche. They can move on to Central High School, which Niche also grades an A and ranks among the top 12% of public high schools in the state for college preparation.

Suburb surrounded by retail and eateries
Residents don’t have to go far to grab groceries at Park Glen’s Walmart Neighborhood Market. Two miles away on the east side is a shopping district that includes department stores like Target, Kohl’s and Home Depot and a variety of fast-food eateries and chain restaurants. About 4 miles to the west of town is Alliance Town Center, a retail shopping mall with a Cinemark theater. Residents can spend the day around this commercial section shopping at Costco and exploring the indoor park of Main Event, an arcade with a ropes course, laser tag and a restaurant. Locals can also head back to Park Glen to dine at JJ’s Taco Shop, a kitchen and bar specializing in seafood tacos and craft margaritas. Afterward, they might stop at the locally adored Andy’s Frozen Custard for a sweet treat.
