Different lifestyles from street to street
The soothing warmth of the Texas sun glistens on the waters of Eagle Mountain Lake, winding its way along the edges of Pecan Acres. This rural community, emerging in the mid-1980s, is 23 miles from Fort Worth and 50 miles from Dallas. Attracting homebuyers seeking a mix of country and coastal living, Pecan Acres offers everyday boating and fishing experiences for residents with private piers and boat docking. Inland residences sprawl across acres, providing an escape from urban life and enough space for horse enclosures. "They're able to have a barn, RVs, dirt bikes and those types of things," notes Realtor Kimberly Meyer from Coldwell Banker Realty, who specializes in selling houses in the neighborhood. Along the lake is an entirely different way of life, with private, gated communities backing up to a golf club and coming with HOA fees. "It's completely different from one place to the next in the area. It completely depends on where in the neighborhood one lives," Meyer says.

Lakeside parks and miles of walking trails
Encompassing over 8,694 acres, Eagle Mountain Lake graces the front yard of Pecan Acres, offering residents proximity to fishing, kayaking, boating and swimming. Eagle Mountain Park is primarily an undeveloped natural area that features over 5 miles of meandering trails with remnants of the past, such as windmills left by generations preceding the park's establishment. A short distance north lies The Resort Golf Club, featuring an 18-hole championship course, a clubhouse and a swimming pool. Lakeview Marina, situated off East Peden Road, provides a full-service bait and tackle shop, wet slip storage and boat rentals for those without private boat docks.

Private piers and sprawling mansions in gated communities
Pecan Acres is a predominantly undeveloped landscape adorned with expansive grassy expanses often utilized by oil and gas production properties and a few community ranches. With ample open space, homes in Pecan Acres tend to be generously sized, typically exceeding 3,000 square feet. The community has witnessed the addition of several subdivisions since the 2020s, showcasing a mix of new traditional and modern homes with ornate brick facades and Tudor inspirations. Moving toward the lake, luxury estates in private communities grace the water's edge, shrouded by dense tree canopies and featuring long private piers for boat docking. Prices for Pecan Acre residencies can range from $550,000 for a three-bedroom to over $3 million for expansive homes exceeding 7,000 square feet. In addition to the area's subdivisions, a few clusters of mobile homes and RV parks are in the neighborhood. However, those homes rarely enter the market.

Many miles from major shopping and dining
Because the area is sprawling and rural, residents of Pecan Acres can expect a longer drive for daily shopping, errands or dining out. Except for a Walmart and some fast-food chains 15 minutes away, locals will likely head to Alliance Town Center to fulfill their needs. Located 15 miles east, the shopping plaza offers various restaurants, a movie theater, big box stores and national grocers. Sammy's on the Lake is an in-town waterfront eatery with an outdoor deck providing panoramic views and attracting locals with its casual atmosphere, burgers and live music. In nearby Avondale, The Beacon Cafe is an old-fashioned diner that offers homey country comforts for breakfast and lunch.

There was a small gym in Newark at one point, but it wasn't open very long. As this is a low income area, many people do not recieve the medical care they need (there are, however, many quality facilities in surrounding cities). Due to the low income, many people cannot afford the healthiest of foods and people are not extremely physically active, other than the junkies that walk the streets for hours. Personally, I stay active by working out in my home and going to a track at the middle school the next town over.

People don't just come to this area. Most everyone in Newark grew up there or married into a family that was already there; and people often spend their entire lives here. The community does seem to rally around the local volunteer fire department, and the turnouts for their events are huge. There is a high amount of drug related crime in this area, and it's not exactly a family friendly place.

Crime is pretty frequent here, and there is no police force other than the county athourities.
