Tarrant County means lower taxes just outside city limits
It’s hard to find a small slice of rural Texas living in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Still, Rendon proves that slower-paced lifestyle is possible without being too far from big city conveniences. The neighborhood’s location comes with several benefits. “It’s in Tarrant County, and most of it is outside city limits, so you’ll have lower taxes,” says Felecia LeGrand, a Realtor with Keller Williams Lonestar DFW. “It also feeds into the Mansfield Independent School District. The main selling points are the school district and the fact that you don’t have city taxes.” While Rendon might be more secluded, it’s not too far from Interstate 35. "So, not only are you living quietly between big cities and a charming downtown area,” says Cynthia Sturns, a Realtor with Northern Crain Realty who has several years of experience in the Metroplex. “But you aren't making a long commute like you would in an even more rural area of Texas."
Rendon locals enjoy going to Historical Downtown Mansfield to watch movies at the theatre.

Large plots of land are commonplace in Rendon
Most homes in Rendon are Traditional ranch-style residences, newer Traditional brick houses and barndominiums adorned with typical farmhouse features like aluminum siding. Large front porches are also common, and because of the neighborhood’s rural nature, properties are spread out and often come with sizable yards. “You’ll find larger tracts of land out there, so if you’re looking for more acreage, you can find it for a lower price than you can in other areas,” LeGrand says. Even in Rendon's subdivisions, finding a home with plenty of yard space is easy. Prices around Rendon vary depending on size. A three-bedroom home can sell for as low as $200,000 but typically costs between $500,000 and $800,000. Properties with more acreage frequently cost between $900,000 and $1 million but can exceed $7 million for plots over 200 acres.

This barbecue joint has expanded with two additional locations in Arlington; however, the original establishment resides in Rendon. Jambo’s offers all the dishes expected at a barbecue restaurant, but it’s known for specialty items like the Jambo Texan: a sandwich that includes all of the award-winning smoked meats on two slices of Texas toast. Just down FM1187 is Hoots Bar Dance and Pool. LeGrand says this local bar is a popular spot for residents to hang out and enjoy some live music, weekly events, dancing or a game of pool or cornhole. For groceries, most drive to Sam’s Club and Target in Mansfield. Burleson’s small but charming downtown area is roughly 8 miles away, and nearby residents have witnessed the area’s recent boom. "Burleson is still growing," Sturns says. "But they already have a wonderful selection of restaurants and eateries. There are big brands and mom and pops, like Babe's Chicken." Babe's Chicken offers Southern comfort staples, like fried chicken and collard greens, in a rustic yet whimsical setting off Burleson's South Main Street.
