A Fort Worth Neighborhood with a little bit of everything
The Ridgmar neighborhood lies about 6 miles west of the Fort Worth Central Business District. The area mainly consists of housing as well as local elm and oak trees for locals to enjoy while maintaining access to busy roads and downtown amenities. The Fort Worth Independent School District also serves the area with short commutes for students. “One of the big key parts of the neighborhood is we are right next to the naval base and Lockheed Martin, as well as the mall being right there,” says Erik Rodriguez, a leasing agent at Park Villas Apartments who has lived in the Ridgmar area for over 20 years. “It is also a really laid-back neighborhood where you can always see people walking their dogs and jogging.” From shopping and dining to outdoor recreation, there really is a little bit of everything in the Ridgmar area.

Custom Fort Worth homes
No two houses in this neighborhood are alike. "They’re all custom homes. They’re not a bunch of cookie-cutter homes," says Donnie Keller, the broker/owner of Reata Realty Group, who has been in real estate since 1996. There are modest traditional ranch-style houses and sleek contemporary options. Homebuyers can select from other styles throughout the shaded, hilly streets, such as Colonial-revival homes with spacious front porches or Spanish-style houses with red tile roofs. Homes in Ridgmar cost more than the average Fort Worth home but less than houses in nearby neighborhoods like Westover Hills or Monticello. Housing prices commonly range from $535,000 to $700,000.

Reused school lots and golf courses
For fun in the sun, locals often head to Leonard Park, a 6.5-acre park that sits on land initially supposed to be used for a school, but as the school was never built, the residents turned it into a park instead. There is a playground, a half-mile walking trail and ample open space that can be used for sports. “There are always a lot of soccer and little league games going on,” Rodriguez says. North Z Boaz Park is just south of Interstate 30 and is a city park located on the site of a former golf course. This vast green space features several miles of trails through rolling hills and scenic grasslands. There are also bicycle trails and a dog park for getting a breath of fresh air.
