Up-and-coming urban neighborhood near a pair of interstates

Once the sixth stop of the interurban electric streetcar system that ran between Fort Worth and Dallas, Stop Six is now an urban neighborhood with a lot of opportunity. “Stop Six is one of Fort Worth’s Neighborhood Empowerment Zones,” says Fernando Espinoza, a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty Fort Worth. “This gives benefits to buyers and incentives to investors. It can also give breaks on permits.” Older homes are being renovated and new-construction homes are popping up around the neighborhood. “It’s definitely being revitalized from what it used to be,” says Cindy Polyak, a Realtor with Keller Williams Dallas DFW Southlake. “The City of Fort Worth has done a great job of putting money into the revitalization of the area. Now you have first-time homebuyers and it’s an affordable area for them to get a brand-new home.” The nearby Interstate 820 Loop and Interstate 30 give residents two major highways to get around Fort Worth and to Dallas. The Trinity Metro bus system operates in the neighborhood, giving locals another option for getting around.

From cottages and ranch-style to new-build craftsman homes

Stop Six features a broad mix of older and newer homes. Most of the older houses in the neighborhood are cottages or ranch-style homes with traditional brick or wood siding. The older homes often have driveways, but built-in garages are rare. Newer houses in the area tend to be Craftsman homes with spacious front porches for gathering with friends and family. These more recently built homes often have built-in garages. Mature trees line the streets, offering shade over the neighborhood. Sidewalks provide walkability for residents. As Polyak said, Stop Six is affordable for homebuyers compared to other neighborhoods in eastern Fort Worth. Older cottages and ranch-style homes sell for between $90,000 and $250,000, while newer craftsman homes have sold for between $190,000 and $420,000. Stop Six has a crime score of 7 out of 10, significantly higher than the national average. In 2017, as a part of the Fort Worth Neighborhood Improvement Strategy, Stop Six was equipped with police cameras and improved street lights to help control crime.

From Eastover Park to Rosedale Plaza Park

“The city has done a great job at conserving the parks in that area,” Espinoza says. Residents can head to Eastover Park for some outdoor time. The park has two backstops for baseball or softball games, plus a basketball court and playgrounds. Historic Stop Six Park is just east of the neighborhood and is another green space locals enjoy. It has a walking trail, soccer field, basketball court and playground. The park also has a section of outdoor exercise equipment, including pull-up bars, a stationary bike and box jumps.
