Close to work and play 20 minutes from Fort Worth

Just 18 miles south of Fort Worth, Wedgwood draws locals looking for suburban conveniences without sacrificing affordability. “It’s a very settled, very consistent neighborhood. It’s close to the mall and restaurants. There’s one of every chain restaurant here. And then there’s the homegrown stuff, too,” says Becky Boeker, a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Realty. Winding roads and quiet streets offer a family-friendly environment where locals are just a hop, skip and jump from lakeside recreation, meandering hiking trails and nearby schools.

Spend the afternoon at Westcreek Park

With several parks to choose from for some outdoor time, Patricia LeBlanc Park floats to the top of the list. It gained national recognition in the 1990s as the first universal playground in the country, allowing kids of all abilities to play side-by-side. At 17-acre Westcreek Park on Jennie Drive, locals enjoy the basketball and tennis courts, soccer field and playground. The park connects to the nearby Woodmont Linear Park, a trail that takes residents past public art installations offering messages of encouragement. Benbrook Lake can be accessed on Rocky Creek Park Road, 10 miles west for bass fishing or swimming.
