Fast-growing community on the southern outskirts of Franklin
The Goose Creek area is a vast and growing community on the southern outskirts of Franklin, where subdivisions have gradually taken over rural landscapes. Goose Creek — also the name of a local bypass and stream — stands out with developments like Berry Farms, which began taking off in the 2010s. Residents of the bustling community live just steps away from local and chain eateries, CrossFit studios and their weekly grocery needs. When not busy working, many find respite in Hughes Mill Park, where a rusted and tin metal farm structure reminds visitors of the area's once predominant farming history. Several highways crossing this area provide quick routes to destinations like the CoolSprings Galleria corridor. “It definitely lends itself to a more family community atmosphere,” says Lauren Dahm, the owner of Ladd Park Floral Design and resident of another Goose Creek community. “But it’s also close to Nashville, all the amenities of CoolSprings, restaurants and shopping. You can get to a lot of places quickly and easily.”

Modern homes honoring classic architecture
Berry Farms is a master-planned community with a blend of contemporary homes, townhouses and apartment options, many of which exist interspersed among local businesses. Traditionals and Colonial Revival designs are common here, but many of these modern homes also give nods to Victorian, Italianate, Craftsman and Georgian architecture. Nearby, Ladd Park is a purely residential housing subdivision with contemporary Traditional homes, some of which show English Tudor influences with their half-timbered exteriors. Residents here enjoy quieter settings, miles of trails and quick canoe access to the Harpeth River. “One thing that’s nice about our community is we have rolling hills. A lot of communities are really flat and we like having the elevation. It’s a little prettier in that regard,” Dahm says about Ladd Park. Single-family homes across Goose Creek mostly cost between $900,000 and $1.2 million. Townhouses can start at about $500,000 and reach around $1 million if they’re over 2,500 square feet.

Coffee, pizza and custard at Berry Farms
Goose Creek's Berry Farms serves as the main shopping and dining area. “You don’t have to go to downtown Franklin to access anything like that,” says Cindy Garvey, the owner of United Country Real Estate Leipers Fork. Many here start their day with a latte and fruit-topped toast from Honest Coffee Roasters Berry Farms and some cafe patrons come in with laptops to work or relax in one of the hanging basket chairs. Lunch options include Tito’s Mexican Restaurant and the uniquely smoked meats at Edley’s Bar-B-Que. Whit’s Frozen Custard serves desserts, which friends and family can enjoy while mingling outside the shop. The Benchmark Sports Pub + Eatery is a neighborhood hangout for those who want to grab a beer while catching up on the latest news and sports highlights. Publix is the nearest grocery store.

Nature walks and historic attractions at Winstead Hill
Winstead Hill is the only Franklin city park located in this area. The 61-acre green space draws nature lovers and history buffs and treats them to panoramic views of the surrounding hills as they pass by several Civil War memorials. The site features a less than 1-mile trail and its landmarks include Civil War gravesites and a large stone and iron tablet that details the history of the Battle of Franklin. Avid golfers looking to challenge themselves on championship-level grounds can book a tee time on Franklin Bridge Golf Club’s public 18-hole course.

Williamson County Fair and other events at Ag Expo Park
Each year, over the course of nine days in August, thousands flock to Ag Expo Park for the Williamson County Fair. The fair features a range of activities from carnival rides to livestock shows and hay bale decorating contests. At night, residents of Goose Creek can watch the fair’s fireworks display from their own backyards. The Ag Expo Park features three arenas and hosts numerous other events during the year, including trade shows, dinosaur exhibits, rodeos and 4-H camps. Some communities in Goose Creek also host local events like a Halloween festival and Easter egg hunts.

Highly rated Williamson County Schools and National Merit successes
Several highly rated schools under the Williamson County Schools district serve the Goose Creek area. The specific school students may attend depends on where they live. Those in Berry Farms may start at Oak View Elementary, which receives an A from ratings site Niche, before heading to Legacy Middle School and Independence High School, which both earn A grades from Niche. Other schools serving this area include Creekside Elementary School, as well as the Page middle and high schools. Creekside and Page Middle get A grades from Niche, while the ratings site gives Page High an A-minus. Williamson County Schools’ National Merit semi-finalists and finalists reflect the district’s academic prowess. The district broke its annual record of finalists in 2024 with 80 students participating — 10 of which were from Page High and Independence High.

Highway commutes to Williamson County neighbors and Nashville
The Franklin Transit system doesn’t serve Goose Creek, but many residents drive to commute across the region. The community is about 7 miles from downtown Franklin and has access to three highways — U.S. 31, U.S. 431 and Interstate 65. These three thoroughfares pass through the area and provide routes to Nashville and its immediate neighbors like Thompson’s Station, Spring Hill and Columbia. The community is also 25 miles south of the Nashville International Airport, the region's leading provider of commercial flights. Goose Creek is also about 5 miles south of the Williamson Medical Center, a hospital campus with several specialist practices. The campus counts the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital Vanderbilt among its institutions.
Important to know
Goose Creek has an overall CAP Index crime score of 1 out of 10, putting it soundly below the national average of 4. The region can also experience severe weather events like tornadoes, but communities like Ladd Park have underground power lines which significantly reduces the chance of an outage. “And it’s much prettier. We don’t have power lines conflicting with the trees and stuff. It’s just a prettier, cleaner perspective. In the northeast, if we had a bad storm, we could lose power for days,” Dahm says.
GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
