Rural Nashville metro community with sweeping farmland views
Located south of one of Nashville’s most affluent suburbs, Southall offers a little more breathing room amidst sweeping views of rolling farmlands. The area based around Southall Road is turning into a regional agritourism destination, and its rural setting provides the ideal backdrop for activities ranging from fly-fishing and kayaking to weddings and tours of a local orchard and apiary. Williamson County native Greg Lofton, the operations manager at B Miller Recycling in Southall, enjoys the community simply because of “All the serenity and landscape. You come down Carters Creek Pike in the morning and you look out the window of the car, and it looks like God painted a picture right there on the side of the road. It’s beautiful.”
The Southall Farm and Inn is located in the heart of Southall.
Southall is made up of mostly homes on large lots.

From small ramblers to new luxury homes
The rural portion of Southall features ranch-style homes, contemporary Traditional designs and Colonial Revivals situated on half-acre lots, or multiple acres. “And on Southall Road, one minute you’ll be in a little bitty $300,000, $400,000 home — maybe even $200,000 — and then the house beside you might be $5 million. That’s how diverse Southall Road is,” says Tim Thompson, the owner of Tim Thompson Premier Realtors. A small part of Southall also includes the outskirts of Franklin, which has dense clusters of new upscale homes. The styles include contemporary Traditionals, Colonial Revivals and others that honor classic designs like American Foursquare and Victorian. In recent years, more homes have sold within the Franklin portion of this neighborhood, where costs mainly run between $1 million and $3 million. Costs are lower elsewhere in Southall, and many can sell for $500,000 to upwards of a $1 million.
