Small-town living in Frewsburg
Hidden amongst the Allegheny foothills, Frewsburg is a sleepy hamlet tucked along Conewango Creek in the Town of Carroll. The hamlet's name stems from its founders, the Frew family, who settled in the area after venturing north to start a sawmill business powered by the waterways.
Today, essential establishments line a small Main Street. The post office and grocery store are within walking distance for many residents, while a mix of home styles on modest lots sit close together. "Frewsburg is one of the many communities in the county that embraces small-town easy living," says Rachel Willow, a licensed real estate salesperson with five years of industry experience. Farther east, residential roads give way to swaths of farmland that butt up against South Valley State Forest's rugged terrain. Abundant hiking trails, campgrounds and scenic waterways add to the region's appeal, offering a close-knit community with year-round recreation.
Downtown Frewsburg Main Street is lined with shops and restaurants that make the neighborhood feel like home.

Frewsburg Town Park is a large green space that boasts access to a narrow stream called Frews Run for a dip in the creek. A playground with swing sets and a sandbox entertains children of all ages, while a covered pavilion with tables attracts picnickers. Sports facilities include basketball courts and baseball diamonds that host Little League practices and games.
Conewango Creek and Frews Run are natural borders for most of the hamlet. Kayaking, canoeing and fishing are popular pastimes, and over 25 miles of exploration await along the Marden E. Cobb Waterway trail.
Residents are also close to the Audubon Community Nature Center, where 570 acres of wetlands give way to miles of hiking trails, picnic areas, a natural play space and an aviary for birds. The center features interactive exhibits, year-round day camps and guest lecture series.
More trails await about 10 miles away throughout the South Valley State Forest. South Valley encompasses 4,227 acres of rugged terrain and scenic views open to the public for hiking, hunting, trapping, fishing and cross-country skiing. South Valley borders the Allegheny Reservoir, also known as Kinzua Lake, to the east and is home to Onoville Marina Park for year-round boat storage and seasonal renters. Chautauqua Lake is also 10 miles away for sailing and sunbathing along the waterfront.
