About Gardendale, AL

A growing community in Gardendale

Around 10 miles north of downtown Birmingham, Gardendale was once a farming community. But now, its name reflects its reputation as a quiet city that, like any good garden, always seems to be growing. “In the past ten years, I’ve watched the area’s population and diversity grow,” says Dana Belcher, Realtor with Re/Max on Main, who has nearly 20 years of experience in the industry and is local to the area.” More and more people are moving into the area due to its proximity to downtown and the airport. It’s the second-best location for commuters to both Birmingham and Huntsville,” Belcher says. Today, Gardendale’s growth is reflected in recent developments like Bill Noble Park, new shopping centers, and restaurants.

Endless new construction

Housing styles include older Bi-Levels and ranch-style houses and new construction in tidy subdivisions. “People who move to Gardendale have a wide variety to choose from,” says Belcher. Sales prices can range from the $100,000s to the $200,000s for a ranch-style home or Bi-Level. New subdivisions that showcase traditional homes with Craftsman influences can start in the mid $200,000s, with many of them selling into the $400,000s, with some selling for up to $700,000. These homes often boast attached two-car garages and paved sidewalks for neighborhood strolls. With a low crime score of 2 out of 10 according to the CAP Index, residents can feel at ease, although buyers should be aware that Alabama sits right in Dixie Alley, a tornado-prone region in the South.

It’s close to the interstate, and they plan to build hotels nearby.” The small Celebration Park features a playground, splash pad and a pavilion. Big chains and fast-food restaurants are also near these shopping areas, along with smaller local mom-and-pop shops. “Our Place has been around for decades. When you go in, you know everyone,” Belcher says. “Their chicken salad is especially popular, but they sell a range of items,” like a variety of specialty and deli sandwiches and meat plates. “Monita’s Bakery is fairly new and known for their donuts,” Belcher says.

Scott Ridgeway
(659) 207-9809
Hi, I'm Scott Ridgeway, the Qualifying Broker for Ridgeway Realty, specializing in making the dream of dream home ownership come true. I am the listener of my clients, finding a way to accomplish their goals. Whether you are a first time home buyer or selling your house to get into a new home, I am highly motivated to get the deal done with the goal of having an extremely satisfied buying or selling home process. I never want to sell my clients a house, rather I want to show them houses that sell themselves. With over 20 years of sales experience I understand that it is WAY more important to be a better listener than talker. I am a full time real estate professional always gaining experience to share with my clients to lead them through the sales process of houses. Even with the rate hikes of the past couple of years we tripled sales revenue and are expecting to outpace last year's sale by a longshot. These results do not happen because of luck but because of hard work and dedication to our customers and Real Estate.
