A rural retreat for Georgetown residents
Cedar Hollow was once a little out of the way. About 40 miles north of Austin, its narrow streets and long driveways cut through the pristine Texas prairie that rolls into Lake Georgetown. But much has changed as the fast-growing suburban city of Georgetown — and Central Texas as a whole — grows and expands beyond its central square, out to places like Cedar Hollow where residents can find a bit more space and privacy. “That area was very rural, and now it’s kind of in the middle of everything,” says Denise Arndt, a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Residential Realty who has lived in Georgetown her whole life. “But it’s kept its character by fitting a need for people who want to be in town but have some elbow room as well.”

New construction in Cedar Hollow
Much of Cedar Hollow still sits on untouched fields and brush. But as Georgetown grows — it was recently ranked the eighth fastest-growing city in the country — many residents are buying empty lots, some up to seven acres, and building new homes alongside the few existing houses. Many of the builds within the last 15 years feature Mediterranean details such as stucco siding and tile roofs, often selling between $1 million and $7 million. A few more modest homes in a new traditional style go between the mid-$400,000s and $600,000.

Outdoor recreation on the Goodwater Trail
Abutting the south shore of Lake Georgetown, Cedar Hollow offers plenty of outdoor recreation. With a trailhead in the neighborhood, the Goodwater Trail encircles the reservoir for a 27-mile round trip. Along the way, bikers and hikers can stop to camp at Sawyer Park. “Lake Georgetown is awesome for fishermen or people who want to take their family out on the lake,” says Ray Mungia, broker at Mungia Real Estate. “You’re not contending with so much, like Lake Travis or Lake Austin, where there’s a lot more congestion.” Nearby, the private Cimarron Hills Golf and Country Club offers tennis courts and an outdoor pool.
At Tejas Park, the mountain bike trails are truly exceptional and second to none.
