An outdoorsy community near the Superstition Mountains
In the shadows of the Superstition Mountains, Gold Canyon is an active community 35 miles east of Phoenix. “People come out this way for the clean, open air and the golfing and hiking,” says Robert Nye of Just Selling AZ, who has sold over 25 homes in the community. “A lot of people in the area also ride motorcycles and the roads out east have way less traffic than in towards the city.” Gold Canyon is made up of a mix of large homes in gated communities and ranch-style builds on quiet streets. Peralta Regional Park has plenty of hiking, and there are half a dozen golf courses within a few miles. The majority of the commercial and residential real estate is on the western side of the community, as much of the western side is dominated by the Superstition Mountains. It’s the type of place where locals appreciate their space.

Variety of homes
The median price for a single-family home in Gold Canyon is $500,000, but large estates on the golf course go for well over $1 million. “The prices may seem high, but they are lower than closer to the city, and the homes keep appreciating,” says Nye. The prevailing home style is adobe ranch-style builds, but more expensive properties have a grander Craftsman-style feel. Properties on the golf courses have more space, but the majority of houses in Gold Canyon are clustered on smaller lots. The homes are situated on quiet streets and feature private driveways and garages for parking. Most homes favor rock landscaping over natural lawns, but some have turf putting greens in the backyard. Wide sidewalks make it easy to dog walk.
