An exclusive golf club community with luxury amenities
Delray Dunes is a prestigious golf club community built around the first Pete Dye-designed course in Florida. The exclusive Delray Dunes Golf and Country Club opened in 1969, and by the 1970s luxury villas and custom homes were being built throughout, many of which still overlook the meticulously maintained fairways and greens. And because homebuyers are required to join the club, residents have exclusive access to a state-of-the-art clubhouse. But the course and amenities are only part of this community's appeal. According to Stephen Jara, a Delray Dunes resident and affiliate broker with the Corcoran Group, the neighborhood's close-knit environment is an essential part of its charm. "I moved in here with my parents in 1977, left and then moved back about 11 years ago," he says, noting that he came back "because of the people."

World-class 18-hole golf course designed by Pete Dye
The golf course is the centerpiece of the neighborhood. The first of 21 designed in Florida by Dye, this 18-hole layout is lauded for its meticulously conditioned grass and signature features, including railroad tie bunkers and small greens. The club only offers tee times two days a week, meaning most days members can show up at any time to play a round of golf. Aside from the course, residents also have access to a clubhouse with more than a dozen amenities, including a fitness center, swimming pool, playground and tennis courts. For a nearby public park, Congress Avenue Barrier-Free Park is just 3 miles away. It's a popular spot for kids, especially in summer, because of its alligator-themed spray ground and vibrantly colored play structures. It's also home to the Boynton Beach Tennis Center, which has 21 public courts.
A mix of new and original villas, single-family homes
There are 323 homes, including single-family dwellings and standalone villas. Most were built in the 1970s following the course's opening, though more new builds have popped up recently. Homebuyers can find seven different architectural styles here, the most common being ranches, Mediterranean, Bermuda and modern builds. But architectural styles aren't the only thing with a wide range. Prices for mid-sized villas with two or three bedrooms start at $425,000 but can quickly rise, surpassing $1.7 million. There are also a few estates in the community, which start around $1.9 million and can go for more than $3.1 million. Homebuyers should be aware of two subsequent required fees: one for the HOA and one for the country club membership. Upon buying a house here, homeowners are accepted as members at the club, a significant perk, especially given that the waitlist for non-resident members is between 25 and 30 months.

Annual community events hosted by the country club
A busy social life is par for the course in Delray Dunes, thanks to the club's packed events calendar. Throughout the year, the club regularly hosts dinners based on themes or regional cuisines. And residents never miss a chance to celebrate a holiday, gathering for everything from a Mother's Day Gala to a Christmas Eve dinner to a 4th of July poolside barbeque. The club also hosts monthly wine lectures and culinary demonstrations led by the restaurant's executive chef. These events are a central part of the community's close-knit culture. "It could take you 20 minutes to get out of the community because everyone wants to say hi," says Jara, who lived in Delray Dunes as a child and moved back as an adult 11 years ago.
Dozens of popular shops, eateries within a 5-mile radius
This neighborhood is almost entirely residential. Still, there are plenty of dining and shopping options within a 5-mile radius. Village Square at Golf, about 2 miles away, is one of the more popular nearby shopping centers. Not only does it have a Publix and KC Market, a specialty kosher food supermarket, but it's also home to several mainstay restaurants. Mamma Mia Italian Restaurant has been serving the community since 1983. Its long wooden tables and brightly lit dining room create an inviting and family-friendly atmosphere. It's known for its homemade sauces and New York-style brick oven pizza. Another local favorite is Coriander, a cozy Indian spot lauded for its butter chicken and cheesy garlic naan. The neighborhood is also about 2 miles from a Walmart Neighborhood Market, a smaller-than-normal Walmart stocking daily essentials. There are dozens more shopping and dining options at Boynton Beach Mall and downtown Delray Beach, about 4 and 7 miles away, respectively.
