East end suburb with ample accessibility
Despite being wedged between Interstate 43, an expansive business center and Baird Creek, McAuliffe Park retains a secluded suburban feel on Green Bay’s east end. “It’s one of those places that feels like you’re on the outskirts of the city, but it’s growing so you’re still close to everything you need,” says Alex Roup, a managing broker with Todd Wiese Homeselling System. “There’s a chain of convenient stores and gas stations in the area called Kwik Trip, and when you see one of those go up, that’s a telltale sign of growth. There are two now on the east end – one of them is on South Huron Road – so there’s been more commercial development around that.”

McAuliffe Park was named after American astronaut and teacher, Sharon Christa McAuliffe.

A mix of new construction and 20th-century homes in McAuliffe Park
As the city’s east end grows, new construction is starting to develop, selling anywhere from $410,000 to $620,000. More established 20th-century homes include ranch styles, split levels and New Traditionals. Price points for these houses range from $235,000 to $365,000. Yards are spacious, typically a quarter-acre or larger, and are landscaped with mature trees and small, manicured gardens. Many of the residential streets are lined with sidewalks, and even on those that are not, “you’ll see people out walking and biking through the neighborhood on any given day,” Roup says.

Go for a walk or bike ride along the Baird Creek Trail
The neighborhood’s namesake park and prime access to the Baird Creek Trail add to the appeal for those who like to be outdoors. “The trail is a real highlight and asset for the area,” Roup says. “It’s well maintained by several neighborhood groups and when people are walking and biking they can see a lot of wildlife.” The pathway spans 3.2 miles throughout the city and connects to the larger East River Trail in Joannes Park. McAuliffe Park is another recreational hub for residents, with volleyball and basketball courts, soccer fields and a small mulch playground. The park’s ice rink opens in the winter. Golfers can play a round of 18 at The Woods Golf Club. There’s also a driving range and putting green where people can practice before teeing off. Casual eateries along East Mason Street
Commercial pockets are situated along East Mason Street and South Huron Road. Pick up a sandwich at Scott’s Subs or a pizza from Rosati’s. Roup recommends stopping by Mackinaws Grill & Spirits. “It’s a neighborhood staple and is always packed. It looks like a log cabin inside and kind of has a wilderness theme.” A 2.5-mile drive along East Mason Street leads to an ALDI for grocery essentials. The chain grocer sits within the East Town shopping complex, which houses several other big box stores like Hobby Lobby, Kohl’s and Marshalls.
