Set about 26 miles south of Tucson, Green Valley Country Club Estates is a 55-plus community offering desert suburbia around the Country Club of Green Valley. “It’s a big retirement community; it’s going to be quiet,” says Joshua Stanley, a Realtor with Exp Realty and over 4 years of experience. “You’re going to be around other retired people, which is the main allure.” Members enjoy the country club’s golf course and amenities, though a membership isn’t required to live here. Most residents are also members of Green Valley Recreation, a non-profit organization that hosts social events and maintains 15 private recreation facilities throughout Green Valley. The overall CAP Index Crime Score is 1 out of 10, compared to the national average of 4, and area houses of worship include Southern Arizona Community Church, Santa Cruz Valley Church and Sahuarita House of Worship.

Spanish-inspired ranchers and townhomes
All homes are part of local homeowners associations, whose annual dues of about $35 to $50 go toward community upkeep. “The Estates are big custom homes on lots with their own yards—usually no more than a quarter of an acre,” says Trina Alberta Oesterle, a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker Realty who has over 14 years of experience. Built during the late 20th century, most homes here are ranch-style with Spanish-inspired features, like red clay-tiled roofs and desert-colored stucco exteriors. These two- to four-bedroom homes generally have l,500 to 2,500-square-foot layouts; typical features include attached garages and covered patios or porches. Their gravel-packed lots are dotted with low-water plantings and the occasional palm tree or Saguaro cactus peeking over the rooftops. Prices range from about $300,000 to $450,000, depending on a home’s size and features.
There are also a handful of Spanish- and Pueblo-inspired townhomes in the neighborhood. These homes have two to three bedrooms and are generally smaller with 1,000- to 2,000-square-foot layouts; their prices range from $250,000 to $350,000, depending on size.
