‘South of the Lake’ 15 miles from Cincinnati
Winton Woods Park spans over 2,500 acres of Springfield Township, Ohio and is considered a local recreational gem. In the summertime, families rent paddleboats to take out onto the lake, while others cast out their lines for bluegills and catfish. Miles of shaded hiking and mountain biking trails extend throughout the forest and Parky’s Farm offers pony rides and seasonal light displays during the winter holidays. Residential streets to the south of the park are a part of Winton Lake, a neighborhood often referred to as “south of the lake” by locals. Here, prospective buyers will find post-World War II era homes sitting side-by-side along narrow streets, just15 miles away from downtown Cincinnati via Interstate 75. "People find it to be a very relaxing environment because of all the parks and wooded spaces surrounding the communities," says Bryant Brown, a Re/Max Preferred Group Realtor with nearly a decade of experience selling in the area. In other words, it’s the access to nature that makes this Cincinnati suburb especially coveted. "The parks are definitely the most popular amenity," adds Brown.

Hiking trails, pony rides and fishing in the woods
“Winton Woods was in my backyard growing up,” says Brian Jackson, a Realtor at Keller Williams Seven Hills. “There are lots of hiking trails, but you can get off the beaten path too.” There are several campgrounds in the park, catch-and-release fishing on the lake and a small water park for kids. Parky’s Farm offers horse riding lessons, a petting zoo with sheep, rabbits and cows, and tractor rides around the grounds. During the winter season, residents can use the indoor pool and waterslides at the Powel Crosley, Jr. YMCA, which also has an indoor gymnasium and weight-training facilities. The outdoor pool has designated laps lanes, and kids can take lessons or attend summer day camps too. Nearby, golf course options include Meadow Links, Winton Woods and the Mill Course.
Many people love to run throughout the Trillum Trail Preserve.

Mid-century homes sit side-by-side
According to Jackson, “There’s a good mix of housing styles in Winton Lake. You’ve got ranch-style homes, two-story homes. They started building in the 1950s and ‘60s.” More recent years have also seen the addition of townhouse communities and prices in the neighborhood typically fall between $100,000 and $300,000 and homes here sell after an average of three weeks. It’s common for driveways to boast basketball hoops in front of two-car garages, and streets are gently sloped and shaded by trees.
