A thriving West Greenville community with historic roots
Once home to the workers of Greenville's "fertile crescent" textile industry, the suburb of Parker is now an attractive homebuying location for those seeking to be close to West Greenville's amenities. It's a short distance to downtown and an easy biking distance to art galleries, coffee shops and breweries. “This area is gaining in popularity, but there are residents who have been here for a long time, too. There’s a lot of history in the community,” says Realtor and broker Regina Simmons with Solomon & Associates Real Estate. Simmons has been working in South Carolina real estate since 2006 and received her broker license in 2017.

Refurbished former mill homes and new construction brighten up Parker
The homes of Greenville's former mill workers are the primary architectural offering here. These homes are about 1,000 square feet, with four rooms and a fireplace that gives the houses that notable central chimney stack. Many homes include a deep-set porch that allows residents to rest and relax on a warm summer evening. Renovated mill houses typically sell for between $275,000 to $500,000. The neighborhood also features new construction, typically in modern farmhouses or contemporary Craftsman styles. These homes usually cost between $550,000 and $800,000. “Homes go quick here, because living close to the city is so desirable—you can get to downtown in just a few minutes,” says Simmons.
Mill homes can also be found all throughout Parker.

Home to some of West Greenville's favorite parks
One of the community's best outdoor spaces is Shoeless Joe Jackson Memorial Park, home to an 8-acre baseball facility with a playground and picnic area. This historic park was also part of West Greenville's former textile mill area. Mill workers formed baseball leagues and played at the ball field at the original park. Shoeless Joe Jackson grew up in the area, played for a mill league and then played major league baseball. Another favorite is Westside Park, one of Greenville's largest parks. There are athletic fields, a playground and Greenville County's Aquatic Complex, a go-to for club and school swim meets.

Berea is the worst place I have ever lived. I've heard that it used to be safe, not in the 35 yrs I've lived in Greenville. West Greenville has always been known for drugs, violence ect. Stay away. Its awful. Go to the east side
