Fast-growing community just 16 miles from Fort Worth
For those dreaming of escaping to blue skies and haybales, finding a home in Haslet offers the chance to live in a countryside community. "It's a great place to live. It's got an excellent family atmosphere. Folks are easygoing. Like any other small town in Texas, we're growing so fast, but you're not going to find a better place to live in the state," says Patrick Kennedy, an agent at Kennedy & Co. Realty with 21 years of experience. In addition to its rural residential vibe, Haslet offers excellent schools and a mix of home styles to offer a variety of choices. Much of the growth that Kennedy mentioned has come from the businesses that have moved into the area. Amazon has three fulfillment centers nearby. Other companies like Kraft and UPS have warehouses in the area, bringing economic growth and jobs to Haslet.
Ranch-style homes, farmhouses and country estates
In the center of Haslet, ranch-style homes and farmhouses are spread out on large lots. These homes often have long driveways leading away from the roads, and many have barns on the property to store equipment or serve as workshops. Residents can find an established home in this part of town for $500,000, but luxury homes with more acreage are listed for $800,000 to $1 million.
The rest of Haslet features newer homes in subdivisions that have popped up. "There's lots of new growth in Haslet," says eXp Realty agent Bryan Edwards, who has 12 years of experience. "Recently, it's been easier to find these newer homes than large farm acreages." Some subdivisions still have sizable lots, while others have more densely built homes. The houses are primarily New Traditional brick homes ranging from $300,000 to $600,000. These homes feature spacious garages and sidewalks, offering a walkable path through the neighborhood. They often come with neighborhood parks, including a short walking trail, a playground, and sometimes a fishing pond.
Northwest Independent School District serves Haslet families
Students in Haslet will likely be part of the Northwest Independent School District. They will start at Haslet Elementary School before filtering into Truett Wilson Middle School. Both schools earned an overall A-minus rating on Niche. VR Eaton High School earned an A overall rating from Niche and offers two academies. Students can focus on the Aviation and Aeronautics Academy or the Business Management and Entrepreneurship Academy. Students in each academy gain hands-on industry experience before leaving high school.
Amenity-rich parks dot Haslet's enclaves
Haslet Community Park is an ample green space in the center of the community with an extensive walking trail, sand volleyball courts, basketball courts and a playground. The park also has spaces for soccer fields and a large pavilion for residents to gather with family and friends. Residents are also only 11 miles from the sparkling waters and scenic parks of Grapevine Lake. Trophy Club Park is the closest community space; this residential area has ATV trails, picnic areas, a disc golf course and a boat launch. It's a popular place to cool off outdoors during those Texas summers.
Growing retail areas along Interstate 35
While the appeal of Haslet is its seclusion and the area is primarily residential, there are popular shopping and dining destinations along Interstate 35 and Highway 287. Alliance Town Center and Presidio Town Crossing have several big-box stores, including Costco, Target, Belk and Dick's Sporting Goods. Residents can catch a movie at the local Cinemark theater or eat at one of the many nearby restaurants. Lupe Tortilla Mexican Restaurant is a regional chain known for its margaritas and homemade tortillas, which are so good that some diners choose to eat here just to have them. Residents can pick up groceries at the local Kroger on WinCo Foods. Haslet's closest hospital, Medical City Alliance, is also located here.
Getting around Haslet and beyond
The community is located just north of Fort Worth, at the intersection of Highway 287 and I-35, making it easy to commute into the city. Downtown Fort Worth is about 15 miles from the community, and downtown Dallas is about 45 miles away. When residents must travel beyond the Metroplex, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is about 25 miles from Haslet.
GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
