Plentiful amenities and convenience in sprawling McCullough Hills

Home buyers looking for easy access to outdoor recreation and excellent schools in the highly desirable 89012 ZIP code set their sights on McCullough Hills. “It’s a lifestyle buy,” says Realtor Robert Morganti of Life Realty District. This quiet residential community rests against the northern border of Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area, an excellent spot for outdoor enthusiasts who want to hit the hiking and biking trails. It’s also on the outskirts of the Las Vegas Valley, yet close to the 215 beltway, which allows residents to get around the Valley without the red lights. “You’re 20 minutes from the airport and 25 minutes from The Strip,” Morganti says. With all that’s close by and easily accessible, McCullough Hills is a great starting point for discovering and enjoying what the Valley has to offer.

Outdoor recreation at its finest

Residents of McCullough Hills have an abundance of outdoor activities to choose from. When they want to remain local, they simply walk or bike over to Acacia Park, the community’s largest. There, they can shoot hoops, toss a baseball or burn off energy on the covered playground while pups run free in the dog park. Those interested in desert landscaping might visit the Acacia Demonstration Gardens for visual examples of landscaping best practices and possibilities. Sports enthusiasts flock to Paseo Verde Park’s ball fields and tennis courts, and seasoned hikers like Reunion Trails Park for the Amargosa Trail. At the southernmost edge of the community winds the McCullough Hills Trail. The eight-mile stretch runs across the Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area and is great for equestrians, hikers and cyclists. On a Friday afternoon, folks might run into the Dog Hiking Club of Las Vegas.

McCullough Hills' luxury homes feature options

Contemporary and modern architecture blends desert scenery with a variety of home styles from local builders. Quail Ridge offers upscale duplexes with three to four bedrooms and two-car garages. Homes in Horizon’s Edge provide spectacular views of the Las Vegas Valley from terraced lots. Go modern or contemporary at Aurora’s Edge’s exclusive Black Mountain homes – no Southwestern stucco in sight. More modest, 1,700-square-foot homes are available at Montenegro Estates. These offer views of fireworks over The Strip. “You can get in for $400,000 and go as high as $20 million,” says Morganti. Construction here is ongoing from some of the area’s best-known builders.
