Down Home Grill serves American-style grub and is a favorite among locals. “I’ve been there several times,” Vedder says. “It’s a popular place, and the food is great.” The Mall of Victor Valley is a 5-mile trip west and houses more than 120 retailers. “It’s the place everyone in the city goes to when they want to do a day of shopping,” Vedder says.

Access to Victorville Mojave Riverwalk is directly north, off Mojave Fish Hatchery Road. They move on to B-plus-rated Sultana High School. In late April, the district hosts its annual iExpo, a showcase and competition for passion projects. On the other side of Bear Valley Road, Victor Valley College offers associate degrees and certificates. “It’s a big establishment for Hesperia, and a lot of local students enroll there,” Vedder says.
