Residential neighborhood at the base of Tiger Mountain
Sheltered in the shadows of Tiger Mountain, Mirrormont is a quiet residential community in King County, surrounded by thick Douglas firs and cedar trees, about 6 miles south of Issaquah. “You get this feeling of being in a state forest. You’re surrounded by tall, majestic trees that are about 50 to 80 years old,” says Realtor Kellie Batali with Windermere Real Estate, who has almost 20 years of experience and lives in the neighborhood. Mirrormont may have a rural makeup, but its community association keeps neighbors close through shared facilities and events.
Washington state parks and neighborhood-specific facilities
Mirrormont is situated along the foothills of Tiger Mountain State Forest. The natural area has over 13,745 acres of land for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and hang gliding. Multiple trails wind up Tiger Mountain, including the South Tiger Powerline Trail, Poo Poo Point Trail and Hidden Forest Trail. “One side of Mirrormont is close to one of the entrances for the park; you can almost walk to it. I’m always going onto Tiger Mountain and doing a hike with my dog,” Batali says. Seattle Paragliding is an extreme sports company that flies from the summit of Poo Poo Point down to the valley below. Additionally, the Squak Mountain State Park Natural Area is about 5 miles northwest with acreage of forests and creeks. Squak Mountain has 13 miles of hiking trails and 6 miles of horse-riding trails.
Sitting at the center of the neighborhood is Mirrormont Park, which has a playground area, walking trails and an open space. The Mirrormont Pea Patch is a community garden with over 30 raised plots, run by volunteers. “We donate hundreds of pounds of fresh produce to the Issaquah and Maple Valley food banks,” says Ian Parker, president of the Mirrormont Community Association. Next door is the Mirrormont Country Club, a separate organization. Its facilities include an outdoor pool, a clubhouse and tennis courts for its members. The country club will host multiple pool parties when the weather is warm, including a Fourth of July party and themed swim nights.
