A quiet Treasure Coast community close to nature
The Lost Lake community, just south of Port Salerno, is home to a horde of wild animals thanks to Atlantic Ridge Preserve, a massive state park and wetland that envelopes most of the neighborhood. “We see animals in our backyards all the time: bobcats, whitetail deer, all kinds of critters,” says Kelley Smith, the district sales manager with The Keyes Company who lives and works in the area. “It’s neat.” The park-like feel of this neighborhood, along with the HOA-maintained properties has attracted a healthy collection of residents looking for a natural setting that doesn’t require back-breaking labor. “They’re easy to maintain properties,” says Barbara C. Smith, a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty who sells throughout the Treasure Coast. “The HOA mows the lawns and takes care of everything outside.”

A mix of homes in a variety of floor plans
Lost Lakes consists of several subdivisions, a few gated, full of New Traditional homes on quiet, manicured streets. Built in the 1990s, the homes feature various floorplans with stucco facades and barrel tile roofs. Backyard pools here are often protected by atriums that not only keep out the bugs and leaves but also help prevent visits from any curious cranes, alligators and bobcats from the nearby preserve. Some houses here feature views of the Lost Lake Golf Course or one of the community’s many ponds. Prices range from the mid $300,000s to the low $600,000s for two- and three-bedroom homes with about 2,000 square feet. Homes with three, four and five bedrooms range from the high $600,000s to just over $1 million and tend to offer bigger yards or custom upgrades. Front lawns are landscaped with trees, shrubs and flowers. Sidewalks are abundant throughout the community, giving residents plenty of space for morning jogs and evening walks. This neighborhood scores 1 out of 10 on the CAP Index, three points lower than the national average.

Hiking at Atlantic Ridge Preserve State Park, golfing at Lost Lake Golf Club
Golfers can join the Lost Lake Golf Club, located in the heart of the neighborhood. Along with the newly renovated 18-hole golf course, there’s a full driving range and practice chipping and putting greens. There are also two tennis courts and a pool. The club is transitioning from semi-private to private in January 2025, a move that has disappointed some residents. But Ashley Weeks, director of member services, says updates to the club will increase property values in the area. Those looking for a more rustic day outdoors can head to Atlantic Ridge Preserve State Park, which offers trails through the marshes where visitors hike, ride horseback or walk their dogs.
