Old-school charm and new growth

Located just six miles south of downtown Fayetteville, Hope Mills’ South View neighborhood is a charming mix of small-town character, outdoor recreation, and urban access. With its winding creeks and large swathes of trees, residents can still get where they need to go quickly—but return home to a serene slice of country living. “Historically, Hope Mills has always been a very old-school kind of suburb, with a lot of old timey charm,” says Trena Daignault, real estate broker with Keller Williams Realty and longtime resident of the area. “But it’s recently seen a huge population growth—so there’s a good deal of change and excitement in addition to that old-time feel.” Thanks to its blended lifestyle and access, those looking for a little bit of both worlds may find what they’re looking for in South View.

South View homes are a mix of established and new

Housing in South View reflects the character of the neighborhood well—along with the growth it’s experiencing. “You have a mix of lovely traditional styles in South View,” says Daignault. “But also a lot of new, more modern styles that are coming up along with the new population.” Traditional designs in the neighborhood primarily include ranch styles, split levels, and the occasional Cape Cod. New construction usually demonstrates modern contemporary style, with newer townhouses also featuring this aesthetic. Thanks to its more country surroundings, homes in South View are usually on sizeable lots with yards, driveways, and garages. Prices typically range from $175,000 to $550,000—with a single-family, 3-bedroom home usually starting at around $210,000.

Just minutes from Fayetteville

South View’s location is one of its key benefits, with its proximity allowing residents to quickly get to more urban areas—such as nearby Fayetteville—or get even farther out into the country. “That area in particular is great for those working in Fayetteville,” says Daignault. “It’s practically in their back yards, even if it feels farther out.” Interstate 95 is conveniently located right next to the neighborhood, while Highway 301 and Martin Luther King Jr. Freeway are also within a few minutes. Fayetteville Regional Airport calls the neighborhood home, making for easy access—though, occasionally, some extra noise as well.

North Main Street is home to the essentials

Though trips to Fayetteville are always an option, residents looking to meet their shopping and dining needs don’t have to travel far outside the neighborhood to do just that. Essentials can be found on North Main Street, which features well-known retailers such as Walmart and Lowe’s. Those looking to cross items off their grocery list can do so on North Main Street too, with both Food Lion and CVS available to them. Chain restaurants are the most readily available options for dining out in South View, though the area does feature a couple local favorites—Mis Casita is beloved for its authentic Mexican cuisine and generous portion sizes, while Sammio’s Italian Restaurant makes waves with its seafood pasta. In addition to shopping and dining options, this stretch of road also features the area’s medical offices, maintenance and repair shops, and gyms.

Hope Mills Municipal Park features nearly 30 acres

Rockfish Road features the Hope Mills Municipal Park, which offers a 2-mile hiking trail and nearly 30 acres of athletic fields, playgrounds, and a dog park. Golfview Greenway Walking Trail boasts its namesake golf course, another walking trail, and an additional 90 acres of land for residents to appreciate. Sporty types will enjoy Old Wilmington Road’s Arnette Park, which features courts for volleyball and tennis and a baseball diamond.

Baldwin Elementary students take part in NC Science Olympiad

Students in South View start at Ed V. Baldwin Elementary, which earned a Niche rating of C-plus. Students then move on to C-plus rated South View Middle, and graduate from B-minus rated South View High School. Students at Ed V. Baldwin can take part in the North Carolina Science Olympiad or join the Kiwanis K-Kids Club.

Celebrate the holidays at Hope Mills Recreation Center

While nearby Fayetteville offers residents plenty of opportunities to celebrate and take part in local festivals and events, the town of Hope Mills features its own special events too. Residents can look forward to celebrating major holidays with other members of the community at the Hope Mills Recreation Center.
