Twenty-five miles northwest of downtown Houston is Champions — a leafy community with proximity to golf courses, top-ranked schools and an array of shopping options. While accessible for commuting to Houston, Champions offers quiet suburban living that’s in stark contrast to the frenetic pace of the city. "In one of the smaller enclaves like Champions, you get all the Houston benefits, but you don't deal with some of the drawbacks of the city," says Lora-Marie Bernard, a public information officer in the city of Lake Jackson, south of Houston. "Once you get here and you figure out what's going on, you see that everybody is so nice, and it's got that real Texas vibe in that sense."

Champions is known for its green landscape
One of the main draws to Champions is the spacious single-family homes situated along its tree-shaded streets. Homes here come in a myriad of traditional styles ranging from Colonial Revival to Tudor designs. “There are some really beautiful ranch-style homes on larger lots. It feels incredibly scenic there,” says Ariana White, a Realtor with the PorchLight Texas Team at EXP Realty, who’s been selling homes in the area for 11 years. “The Champions area is known for its mature trees. There are a lot of trails. It’s very green, very wooded.” A home under 2,000 square feet can price between $300,000 and $400,000 while larger properties with five or more bedrooms may range from $400,000 to well north of $1 million. “It’s great for someone looking for a more established area,” White says. “It was one of the first suburbs of Houston.”
