Near the Buffalo Bayou and Houston Ship Channel
Denver Harbor/Port Houston is a chill little place to live. At least that's how friends and family of Realtor Veronica Alarcon describe it. Alacron works for LPT Realty LLC and has sold homes in Texas for around 5 years. She says that an average day living here might look like hanging out at the neighborhood park and eating local. "They have great mom-and-pop shops. They are not like your big restaurants. Local people have owned them for a long time." The neighborhood’s name is a two-parter because it has two sections. In the southern section, near the Buffalo Bayou, it's very industrial, with an abundance of petrochemical and export companies. North of that, Denver Harbor/Port Houston becomes increasingly residential, with cozy neighborhood streets in a grid-style formation. Locals enjoy living just 5 miles east of downtown Houston. And while they have amenities close to home, a robust highway connection makes commuting quicker.
Denver Harbor/Port Houston is only a short drive to Downtown Houston and all of its amenities.

Hobby Airport is around 10 miles south via I-610 when flights are needed. HCA Houston Healthcare Medical Center is just over 8 miles west in the Medical Center Area along I-10.

Tortilleria La Espiga De Zacatecas is just down the street, and truly known for their fresh tortillas, as their name implies. The Azteca Farmers Market provides fresh fruits and veggies along with an overall unique shopping and vending experience shaped around Latin American cooking and cuisine. “They have all kinds of vendors that sell baked goods, crafts, chocolates, cheese things like that and it's open all the time,” Alacron says. Fiesta Mart is the go-to grocery chain for a familiar selection of pantry staples and produce. A CVS and Value Dollar also mix on Lyons Avenue. On Clinton Avenue, the Giant Texas Distillers offers behind-the-scenes tours of the establishment and distilling process complete with exclusive tastings.

Family fun at Selena Quintanilla Perez Park
Selena Quintanilla Perez Park is at the heart of the neighborhood on Market Street. Named for the beloved late Tejano singer and Texas native, the park is known for being family friendly. Children ride their bikes on the paved trail and splash in the community pool. Barbecue grills and pavilions are there for casual gatherings and birthday parties. The park has seen significant investment. After a $1 million grounds makeover in 2022, it now includes two new playgrounds, a 100-yard football field and a T-ball area for the kiddos. Santos & Esther Nieto Park on Port Street is also popular for its splash pad for those extra hot Texas days.

Residential streets flourish with tall oaks, offering shady spots along sidewalks for long strolls. Wrought iron gates wrap around well-kept yards, and small porches accent modest homes with unique touches, from string lights draped across the roof in May to wood paneling splashed with teal and purple. Various Craftsman and minimal traditionals line the streets, including larger two-stories and tiny-home-esque options. Residences that have been fully renovated sit next to those showing wear and tear. Depending on their condition and size, established properties mostly run from the mid $100,000s to $300,000s. Tear-down projects are making way for new construction in the modern-rowhouse, cottage and neo-traditional-style ranging from the high $200,000s to the mid-$300,000s.
