A suburban life of convenience at Fairview Garden

Tucked between two of Houston’s major highways, Fairview Garden exudes a mixed-use feel with industrial warehouses and small shopping complexes settled near quiet, peaceful suburbs. Zoned to one of the highest-ranked school districts in Houston and anchored near a 2,1000-acre park, the neighborhood attracts those who need to consider both central locality and family-oriented areas. “Location is key in this particular area of Houston,” says Cassandra Walker, Realtor with Keller Williams Memorial and lifelong resident of Houston. “It gives you great access to not only Highways 290 and 6, but you can easily reach the city's energy corridor or hop on Interstate 10.”

Waterfront views and in-community amenities

Fairview Garden comprises several small subdivisions where flat, sidewalk-lined streets canopied by mature trees are the norm. “Although you’ve got the surrounding highways, shops and restaurants, the subdivisions themselves do not have a lot of thru traffic, giving people some peace of mind when they go home,” Walker says. One of the subsections, Villages at Lakepoint, provides homeowners with a serene waterfront view. “You don’t have neighbors on the back end of homes in that area, so you have a little more privacy,” Walker adds. All in all, Fairview Garden’s housing is primarily made up of three-bedroom ranch homes, selling for $300,000 to $380,000 and larger new traditional homes selling between $400,000 and $500,000. Community amenities are standard throughout the subsections, including pools, playgrounds and walking trails. Fairview Garden scores a 4 on the CAP Index, on par with the national average.

Using Houston METRO and Highway 290

The Houston METRO serves the area through the Northwest Station off Highway 290, connecting residents to downtown Houston and the surrounding areas. Commuters working for the HCA Houston Healthcare system can easily make the roughly 5-mile drive along North Eldridge Parkway and Highway 290 to get to and from work each day. “People love to live north of Houston because you’re outside of the biggest city sectors, close to the airport, and near the luxury of The Woodlands,” says Evelyn Laniado, who’s been working as a Realtor with eXp Realty for five years.

Exploring the expanse of Bear Creek Pioneers Park

Locals head to Bear Creek Pioneers Park for a close-up look at buffaloes, ostriches and emus in the small zoo and aviary. It’s one of the most popular features in the expansive 2,100-acre park. It was initially created in the 1940s to help prevent flooding, and now, the park is packed with walking and horseback riding trails, Little League fields and tennis courts. There is also a playground with a rope tower for kids to climb and explore. Golfers can play a round on nearby courses, Hearthstone and Jersey Meadow, each within 3 miles of the heart of the neighborhood. It’s members-only at the 27-hole course of Hearthstone Country Club, while nearby Jersey Meadow Golf Course is public. Along with an 18-hole course, Jersey Meadow has a driving range and practice putting green.
