Inwood North is a suburb close to Houston highways, restaurants and trails
At Inwood North, buyers can find suburban homes priced below the Houston median and close to Interstate 45 and hikes or bike rides on the White Oak Bayou Greenway trail. “The [homes] I've sold have been with investors or buyers who move to be closer to their families, so it’s a lot of close-knit families around,” says Tiffany Bean, a Realtor and partner with White Oak Realty Group at Compass. “Right now, I’m working with parents who are helping their son buy a home so they can be closer together.” There are also several local restaurants to browse along Tomball Parkway, just north of home. Much of the development here sprung up in the 1970s after the Texas oil rush caused a large population boom in the Greater Houston area. Locals have quick access to many of the city's Outer Loop neighborhoods, shopping centers and employers, and they can commute downtown in half an hour.
Midcentury modern homes with remodeling opportunities
The community is comprised of low-slung ramblers and Cape Cods, mostly built from the 1970s through the ‘90s and featuring attached garages. Remodeling these older homes is becoming a popular option for buyers. “Most homes were built in the 1970s, but many are currently being bought and remodeled and sometimes sold again,” Bean says. Homes range from $175,000 to $400,000, varying by square footage and age. The community retains a typical postwar suburban feel, with grid-patterned streets and narrow sidewalks.
Locals play sports at Alabonson Park or take the White Oak Bayou Greenway
Alabonson Park is less than a mile west and features paved walking paths and fields for soccer and football. At the south end of the park, locals can also access the White Oak Bayou Greenway trail, which stretches more than 18 miles through the city and ends at the historic Woodland Heights neighborhood. A few blocks south of Inwood North, the city recently opened the 1-mile Vogel Creek Greenway trail.
Eateries and supermarkets line Tomball Parkway
West of the neighborhood along Antoine Drive is Inwood Central, a strip that hosts fast food chains and discount retailers. For more options, Tomball Parkway is a busy commercial corridor less than 3 miles north with a Kroger and Aldi. There are also local spots like Tacos El Bigotes, offering burritos, beer and taco Tuesday deals.
Klein Independent School District educates neighborhood kids
Klein Independent School District serves Inwood North. Students can attend Nitsch Elementary, with an A-minus rating from Niche, Klein Intermediate and Klein Forest High School, which both get B-minus ratings. Klein Forest High offers Career & Technical Education courses in business, science, technology and public service, all being taught in the school’s own CTE wing.
Reaching Houston in half an hour, using George Bush Airport for flights
Locals can take Interstate 45 just 14 miles southeast to reach downtown Houston in half an hour. Houston Metro buses stop along Antoine Drive for wider city access. George Bush Intercontinental Airport is 15 miles east and offers domestic and international flights.
GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
