Today, many of its 16,800 residents commute to Houston, about 20 miles south, for work. "If you work downtown, Humble is about the first area people migrate to because it's a family-oriented area and we have all the amenities and necessities close by," says Sandy Swensen, a Realtor with Keller Williams Northeast who specializes in the Humble area. The highly rated Humble Independent School District is a draw for families. At the same time, the city’s proximity to George Bush Intercontinental Airport, just 5 miles away, makes it well-suited for residents who frequently travel for work.
