The best of coastal life with quick access to Huntington Village
Tucked away on Long Island’s North Shore, Huntington Bay offers an idyllic waterfront lifestyle not far from the vibrant downtown of Huntington Village. “It’s so close, but it feels like a world away,” says Risa Ziegler, an agent at Douglas Elliman who has lived in the area for more than 20 years. “No. 1, because you’re by the water. No. 2, because you have the village. No. 3, because the architecture is vastly different than a lot of the places that you find in other parts of Long Island.” Part of the larger Town of Huntington, Huntington Bay residents also have access to the area’s stellar education system, plus numerous private and parochial schools.

A village surrounded by water
Huntington Bay is a wonderland for people who love the water, with plenty of opportunities for boating, swimming, fishing, paddle boarding and more. The area has five protected harbors, and the village is between Huntington and Centerport harbors, both leading to the Long Island Sound. For a nominal annual fee, Huntington residents also have exclusive access to nine beaches, including Crescent Beach Town Park, which is in the village. The others are scattered throughout the Town of Huntington. In addition, Huntington Bay has a network of private beach associations for residents and their guests, including the Nathan Hale Beach Association, yacht clubs and golf courses. For those who prefer to swim in the ocean instead of the sound, Robert Moses State Park is only about a 30-minute drive, Ziegler says.

Nightlife and shopping in nearby Huntington Village
Huntington Village is the place to go for shopping, entertainment and nightlife. Fortunately, its lively Main Street is just a few miles away. “You come into town on any given night, and it’s super vibrant,” Ziegler said. “You go into town, you grab something to eat. Then you could walk around and just see people out and about.” Vauxhall is a popular burger joint, while Prime offers American cuisine with water views. There’s also the Farm Italy Restaurant & Bar for family-friendly Italian fare. There’s plenty of shopping, too, with stores selling everything from toys to tea. For groceries, there’s a King Kullen supermarket as well as a Stop & Shop. Huntington has a theater, The Paramount, which hosts comedy acts and tribute bands, and an art house cinema.

Vintage homes in Huntington Bay
“Huntington Bay has an eclectic mix of beautiful vintage homes, as well as some newer builds,” Ziegler says. “They have nice sprawling properties set on winding roads, and the water is always a stone’s throw away.” Styles include Cape Cods, high ranches and colonial-style houses, and some residences date to the end of the 19th century. Because it’s so close to the water, homes in Huntington Bay are more expensive than in villages to the south. A three-bedroom starts at around $850,000, but an estate with a view can reach $3 million or more.
