Straddling the line of Hurst and Richland Hills
Sitting tucked away between Interstate 820 and various other expressways and tollways, Hurst-Richland is an older neighborhood with solid roots. “The number one thing that draws buyers here is probably affordability,” says Michael Oldham, who has been a team lead at eXp Realty for nine years. “These are established neighborhoods and are very centrally located in DFW.” The community’s western and northern borders consist of several major highways that cover the Dallas-Fort Worth. This access extends to shopping and education as well, with the North East Mall and both Hurst Hills and Donna Park Elementary Schools within Hurst-Richland. A smaller section of the neighborhood is across Interstate 820 and is home to the Medical City North Hills.
Hurst-Richland is home to both residential and commercial areas.
Hurst-Richland is convenient to many local amenities, including the DFW Airport.

Solid, single-story homes
Most of the homes are ranch-style and mid-century modern, with mature trees shading the homes and streets. Backyard pools are scattered throughout Hurst-Richland, and many homes have fences for backyards. Street parking may occur, but most homes have attached garages or carports. Prices range between $230,000 and $500,000 with a few that reach up to $680,000. “There are some older neighborhoods in the area, but they are well-built, solid homes,” says Oldham. “Think of your traditional single-family homes.” A few New Traditional homes can be found in the area, with prices between $350,000 and $500,000. These homes are larger, sometimes having a second floor. There are also some condos and townhomes clustered behind the Hurst Community Park, commonly selling between $180,000 and $240,000.
Styles such as this modest mid-century home abound in Hurst-Richland.

International Baccalaureate program in high school
Most students attend either Hurst Hills or Donna Park Elementary, with an A and A-minus from Niche, respectively, for prekindergarten through sixth grade. Hurst Junior High and Bedford Junior High both earn an A and has students from seventh to ninth grade. “L.D. Bell is probably one of your higher-rated high schools in the area,” says Oldham. “They have the International Baccalaureate Program, a very rigorous high school curriculum with a global focus.” L.D. Bell High School receives an A-minus from Niche and also offers dual credit with Tarrant County College.
Students can practice various sports at the maintained grounds of L.D. Bell High School.

Several parks ranging in size
Hurst Community Park is on the community’s eastern edge and is dominated by four baseball fields that encircle a covered playground. “Hurst is known for its parks, they’re well-maintained, have fitness centers,” says Oldham. “The Hurst Recreation Center caters to all age groups.” There are three smaller parks throughout Hurst-Richland: Windmill, Jaycee-Baker and Hurst Hills. Hurst Hills Park is connected to the Hurst Hills Elementary School, and when school is in session, is reserved for students only. As the smallest park, Windmill Park consists mainly of a historic windmill. Jaycee-Baker has a pavilion for rent that covers three picnic tables and has a double grill available. There is also a playground and green space.
The residents of Hurst-Richland can enjoy a variety of activities at Hurst Community Park.

In October, National Night Out is intended to promote police-community and neighborhood relations, with barbeques and block parties occurring throughout the city. “Hurst has a big public library, hosting all kind of activities through the year for the community,” Oldham says. The library is just north of the Hurst Community Park.
