Many residents in surrounding subdivisions can easily walk to Stanley B. Welch Park, a community park with a playground centrally located in Hurstbourne Acres. Though there aren’t walking trails, locals often enjoy a quiet picnic or toss frisbees around the open green space. “People will often drive for recreation since Louisville has a great parks system. A lot of parks are connected to Floyds Fork — in some parts, it’s just a small stream, and in other parts is more like a river, but the creek is great for fishing and kayaking,” says Jacob Wardrip, a Realtor with Homepage Realty who has served the greater Louisville area for four years. Residents can walk or bike along Floyds Fork or launch a kayak into the water at Pope Lick Park, 9 miles southeast of the neighborhood. Golfers appreciate the nearby Oxmoor Country Club, which has an 18-hole course.
