Glendale Branch Library five minutes from neighborhood
Allisonville, 30 min from Indianapolis, is a largely residential area bordered by shops and eateries. “There is a big neighborly, family-vibe in the area,” says Mikaela Smith, the circulation supervisor of the Glendale Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library. Allisonville is close to two public libraries, the Glendale Branch Library and the Lawrence Branch Library. Both are roughly 10 minutes from Allisonville, though the Glendale branch will be moving to a location a mere five minutes away. “We have families come in saying the new location is so much closer and that they can walk or bike there,” says Smith. While major roadways border the area, locals can bike to nearby eateries, grocery stores and other locations. There are little to no sidewalks in the residential areas, and wide roadways are bordered by well-manicured lawns and mature trees that provide natural shade.
