There's more than a mall in Keystone at The Crossing
Keystone at The Crossing is a neighborhood familiar to many Indianapolis residents. As home to The Fashion Mall at Keystone, a 710,000-square foot shopping center with more than 120 retailers, it has been one of Indy’s most visited locations over the past 50 years. "Keystone at the Crossing has upscale shopping and amenities with easy access to many areas of the city," says Susan Forrest, Realtor with United Real Estate Indianapolis. What Indy residents might be less aware of is the fact it’s also possible to live in the neighborhood – but an increasing number of them are getting clued in. More than 3,000 people live in this neighborhood that was once entirely defined by the mall and office parks.

The Fashion Mall is a high-end shopping destination
The Fashion Mall has served as Indy’s upscale shopping location since opening in 1973. Though the face of retail is changing – Saks Fifth Avenue closed in July 2024 and will be replaced with a new 100,000-square-foot office building – it is still known for high-end stores like Gucci, Nordstrom and Tiffany & Co. There are also dozens of dining options at the mall and throughout the neighborhood. Popular chains like Benihana, The Cheesecake Factory and Cooper’s Hawk Winery are here, but so are several local favorites. Cafe Patachou, Late Harvest Kitchen and Season 52 are all located in Keystone at the Crossing. For groceries, Fresh Thyme Market, Aldi and Trader Joe’s are just across the White River from the neighborhood.

Easy access to I-465 loop and suburbs
There’s a reason a mall was built here – when Interstate 465 was completed in 1970, this formerly rural location was now prime real estate in northeastern Indianapolis. Neighborhood namesake Keystone Avenue is the main north-south artery, connecting north to suburban Carmel and south into the heart of Indianapolis. Downtown Indianapolis and Indianapolis International Airport are both 30 minutes away or more depending on traffic. The IndyGo 26 and 86 bus routes also run through Keystone at The Crossing.

Keystone Art Cinema a unique theatrical experience
Landmark Keystone Art Cinema is one of the few places in Indianapolis to see foreign films and documentaries on the big screen, and the only one not located downtown. “The luster may be lost a little bit with the advent of Living Room Theaters and Kan-Kan Cinema and Restaurant downtown, but Keystone Art Cinema deserves a lot of love for being the forebear,” says Alec Toombs, a film critic who lives on Indy’s north side. “And for me, it’s conveniently located.” Other entertainment choices include Royal Pin Woodland bowling alley and Fastimes Indoor Karting.

Town Run Trail, which forms a 6-mile loop next to the river, also runs through the neighborhood. Further recreational opportunities are available at the Arthur Jordan Branch YMCA in neighboring North Central. The Jordan Branch is a 65,800-square-foot complex with a wellness center, basketball and volleyball courts, and indoor and outdoor pools.
