Near Northwest Riverside is made up of a community of residents who work together to make the neighborhood what it is today. Whether it is Herron-Riverside High and its mission to expose its students to a wide variety of cultural experiences or Cleo’s Bodega & Café that gives residents access to locally-sourced healthy foods, everyone does their part to make this neighborhood a welcoming place.

Residents in Near Northwest Riverside mostly live in bungalows and minimal traditional homes built in the early 20th century. "It seeing some revitalization due to the more affordable home prices in downtown Indianapolis." Students living within Near Northwest Riverside can attend Riverside School 44 and Herron-Riverside High, which received an overall B+ rating on Niche.com. Herron-Riverside High prioritizes a classical and liberal arts education. Students can participate in the school’s exchange program. Students travel to Tlaxcala, Mexico, to study at Instituto Independencia, which gives them the opportunity to be immersed in the culture, expanding their horizons.

Within the neighborhood, residents have access to a diverse collection of restaurants. Circle City Soul Food is another neighborhood staple. Only open on Sundays, residents look forward to their home-cooked meals. There is the Chicken and Waffle with Fried Potatoes and Chicken Dinner that comes with two sides. For dessert, there is a peach cobbler, banana pudding and sweet potato-walnut muffin.

Created by Flanner House Community Center, Cleo’s Bodega & Café was created to give residents access to healthier foods. It is divided into two sections: a grocery store and café. Produce is grown by Flanner House and other neighborhood gardens. The café serves coffee, smoothies, pastries and sandwiches. The popular Trap & Cheese sandwich is grilled cheese made with Chef Oya’s Trap Buttah. On Fridays, during lunchtime, you can enjoy a bit of jazz while you slurp on your smoothie.

Near Northwest Riverside is home to Riverside Park, 861 acres of recreational space that gives you access to the beauty of the White River. From basketball and tennis courts to an outdoor pool that is opening during the summer, there are plenty of amenities that are accessible to those who live within the area.

Riverside Park is home to the Colts Fitness Park and encourages residents of all ages to live an active lifestyle. The park’s playground features a jungle gym, dash ramp and other athletic challenges. There is also outdoor gym equipment like a chest press and elliptical machine, making it an opportune time to work out in the open air.

Because of Near Northwest Riverside’s location, you are less than 5 miles away from downtown Indianapolis, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, the world's largest children’s museum.
