Belhaven Park and Laurel Street Park are the primary established green spaces located within the neighborhood, both in the northern half. Belhaven Park offers local flora and a large open space, also hosting concerts there, while Laurel Street Park has space for pickup games, a playground and a pavilion. Geographically, the town also sits on the extinct Jackson Volcano, which lies nearly 3,000 feet underground. Though chains like Cook Out and Whataburger are found within the community, there’s no shortage of local outlets to whet the appetite. Keep an ear out for some sizzling eats at the Belhaven Grilled Cheese Festival, held in the spring, and keep an eye out for Bright Lights Belhaven Nights in the late summer. A beloved local staple, the festival lasts for an entire day and features food, art vendors, drinks and live music. Motoring around the state capital

Interstate 55 cuts through the eastern half of Belhaven, running from the Gulf of Mexico to the Great Lakes in its entirety. In Mississippi, it treks through the rough center of the state, stopping in cities like McComb, Winona and Ridgeland on its way. Bus lines, operated by JTRAN, are also available. These run throughout the city of Jackson and the roads, whether residents are in a car or bus, get them quickly around the city.
