Love Grove is a suburban retreat interlocking with the slow-moving Pottsburg Creek in Jacksonville, Florida. "Love Grove is a part of the Arlington region and is primarily residential and quiet when you get away from the highways. The area has maintained a family-friendly character over the years," says Frank Guerrido, a Realtor at MV Realty.
Driving through the community, you will notice established cottages from the 1930s and midcentury brick homes on sloping lots by the waterfront. To the east, an early 21st-century dwelling can sit on the same street as structures from the 1950s. Near Pottsburg Creek, there are lots between a third and one and a half acres with backyard docks and piers. Closer inland, land plots are around a quarter of an acre. The community has a median listing price between $200,000 to $300,000; however, homes near the water and others expanding 2,000 square feet will generally list for around $550,000 and higher. The neighborhood also has condos and apartment complexes.
The Arlington region was designed with green spaces in mind, so Love Grove has several parks surrounding the suburb. To explore the nearby creeks and rivers, you can begin your voyage at the Beach Boulevard Boat Ramp, perfect for smaller vessels. But if you prefer to keep your feet on dry land, try Adolph Wurn Park. The park boasts newly renovated play equipment, as well as football and baseball fields. The city runs a drop-in program at the park called Rec N' Roll for children during the summer. If your little one is part of a local baseball league, you might spend game days at Fletcher Morgan Park. The grounds contain a play area and basketball courts, and you'll also see four junior baseball diamonds that host the San Souci Baseball Association.
The public Hogan-Spring Glen Elementary promises a liberal arts program for all students. Young residents may also begin their academic journey at Love Grove Elementary, which received an A in Diversity from Niche. Sixth through eighth graders may have the option between two public schools. Arlington Middle requires every student to wear a uniform, and Southside Middle offers an IB program for high-achieving students. Neighborhood teenagers may enroll in the career academies at Englewood High or take Early College courses.
Although Love Grove is primarily residential, there are commercial properties along the bustling Beach Boulevard, so you won't have to travel far for a bite to eat or refill your kitchen shelves. Before leading you to the beachfront, these streets invite you to retailers and dining locations. Many will shop for groceries at Publix Super Markets at Arlington Square. To the east is Rowe's IGA inside the Promenade At Beach Boulevard.
The area leans heavily towards fast food chains. Still, you can find a modest number of locally-run spots for quick takeout, such as Woody's Bar-B-Q or HotWok on University Boulevard. Locals say that El Rinconcito de Lima is an excellent spot for authentic Peruvian cuisine. The neighborhood also hosts a number of international food stores, such as Bosnian Kwik Mart. And at New World Food Market, you can find fresh and dried ingredients. The establishment also serves Korean-style hot food in the front dining area. Just a mile down Beach Boulevard is La Favorita Grocery Store, which offers food items as well as Mexican-inspired cuisine.
Love Grove is less than 15 miles from the beachfront and 5 miles from the city center, making this an attractive location for commuting and exploring.
