The community has a local pharmacy, discount retailers, a Harveys Supermarket and corner stores for convenient shopping. “Many residents jump on Interstate 95 and travel to River City Marketplace for more options,” says McLeod. Within the area, community staple Austin's Soul Food Restaurant serves Southern comfort on a plate. Joseph's Pizza on North Main Street is not only a restaurant but a treasured gathering place, having been a part of the Panama Park neighborhood for over 60 years. Several retailers, eateries and shopping centers are on and around North Main Street. The Gateway Town Center is near I-95 and boasts a Winn-Dixie, a Planet Fitness and other popular locations.

Fishing off Main Street Bridge
Panama Park offers ample opportunities to enjoy the North Florida landscape. With the Trout and St. Johns Rivers touching the banks of the neighborhood, fishing and boating are pastimes for locals. The Main Street Bridge also serves as a public pier where residents are found throughout the day with fishing poles and bait from local seafood markets like Trout River Fish Co. The community also has friendly private marinas along the eastern side of Panama Park to the east. A dedicated green space is tucked away in the north, bearing the same name as the neighborhood. Once the largest recreational area in North Jacksonville, the park contains an open sports field and baseball diamond for public use. Locals practice their tennis swing or free throws on the tennis and basketball courts. The park also has play areas shaded in trees and a paved walking track around the baseball field.
