Highly desirable Country Club of the South
The Country Club of the South stands out among Fulton County's upscale golf communities. "This is a very special neighborhood, with a key location," says Realtor and longtime resident Kayc Carper with Ansley Real Estate, Christie's International. "When I talk to a buyer, I tell them, 'Whatever you do, just get in here. I don't care what you buy. If you don't, you'll drive by here and be heartbroken.' It's just that amazing." What Carper and other residents love about this Johns Creek community isn't just the luxury estates, community amenities and neighbors that make it unique. "I love it here because we have a beautiful, uniquely diverse community, a great location and access to a resort-style clubhouse. And no matter your interests, there are different groups for you to join and connect with your neighbors, like a book club, swim team, Bible study group, wine club or the charity guild." According to Carper, the charity guild is one of the neighborhood's most cherished groups and recently gave over $6 million to local charities. Residents can access riverfront parks, highly rated public and private schools, and several commercial areas, adding to the Country Club of the South's amenities.
Renovated million-dollar estates with HOA fees
The Country Club of the South specializes in multi-million-dollar estates, with large, manicured yards decorated with floral arrangements and sculpted hedges. Thickets of trees surround homes to provide privacy, and most residences feature large outdoor entertainment spaces, pools and porte cocheres, or covered driveway entrances. Most homes were built in the late 1990s and early 2000s, featuring renovated exteriors in New Traditional, Colonial-inspired and modern farmhouse styles. These houses are often over 10,000 square feet and feature four to six bedrooms at minimum, usually priced between $1 million and $4 million. Homes closer to the Chattahoochee River may be listed for over $4.5 million, depending on the level of water frontage and updates. "There is an HOA fee, which is $3,900 annually, but with all the amenities you have access to, it's a very fair price," Carper says. Carper also notes that "the residences have roaming security on site 24 hours a day, and if you go out of town, they'll keep an eye on your house while you're gone."
A-rated public and private schools
Fulton County Schools serves public school students living in the community. Students can start at Barnwell Elementary, which earns an overall A rating from Niche. Autrey Middle earns an A, and Johns Creek High earns an A-plus. Niche ranks Johns Creek in the Top 20 of best public high schools and the Top 10 of best college prep schools in Georgia. The school has a significant visual arts department, with dozens of pathway options, including ceramics, jewelry design, printmaking and digital design. Several private schools nearby are nearby for families to apply to, including the Fulton Science Academy Private School, which means an overall A-plus and is rated the Top Private School in Georgia according to Niche.
Two clubhouses nearby with a wide variety of amenities
According to Carper, Country Club of the South residents are treated to two recreation spaces. "There's a clubhouse that's just for the community subdivision, in addition to the one at the actual country club, so you don't have to be a member of the club to have a great recreation space," Carper says. The subdivision's large entertainment clubhouse has three swimming pools: a shallow pool for children, a recreation pool with a slide and a junior Olympic-sized pool. There are also lighted tennis courts, pickleball courts, basketball courts, a playground and a tot lot. Carper also mentions the large field where the HOA holds outdoor concerts bi-annually. The actual country club has its own amenities, including swimming pools, tennis courts, a clubhouse and a golf course.
In addition to the community rec spaces, the neighborhood is close to parks along the Chattahoochee River, like Jones Bridge Park. The park overlooks rocky river shoals and has a walking trail, picnic areas, a kayak launch and fishing areas. Autrey Mill Nature Preserve is nearby, featuring historic buildings, a walking trail and a small animal conservation area with goats, chickens and reptiles.
Close to dining and retail on Old Alabama Road and Holcomb Bridge Road
Old Alabama Road and Holcomb Bridge Road surround the community, providing access to several of Fulton County's major commercial areas. Old Alabama Road offers a Publix, Kroger and Fresh Market for groceries, healthcare facilities, gyms, nail salons and boutiques. There are also popular neighborhood restaurants like Altobeli's Restaurant and Piano Bar. This homestyle Italian bistro has served indulgent pasta dishes and nightly live music since 1988. Other nearby eateries include Mojito Cafe, a family-owned Cuban restaurant, and Bruster's Ice Cream, a popular creamery chain. Holcomb Bridge Road is another commercial area with a Kroger, chain restaurants and local spots like Ground and Pound Coffee or Bin 75, a vibrant wine bar. North Point Mall and the Avalon are about 5 miles away in Alpharetta for more big box stores and retail.
Gated community close to local highways, hospitals and the airport
One of the community's defining features is its three manned, gated entrances. "There are two different residential gates, so if there's traffic on one side, you can get out through the other gate. There's also a specific gate for construction and deliveries," Carper says. There isn't public transportation nearby, but the neighborhood is close to major roads like Holcomb Bridge and Highway 19 that connect to Interstates 285, 75 and 85. "The location is great, especially for those who want to get to downtown, the airport or Buckhead easily." Downtown Atlanta is about 25 miles away, and the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is 40 miles away. The closest medical center is Emory Johns Creek Hospital, 7 miles from Country Club of the South. The community has a CAP Index rime score of one out of 10, lower than the national average of 4.
